MELOIDCROCK.COM REPORTS:
EVIDENCE SUGGESTS VAN HALEN NEWS IMMINENT:
The Van Halen rumor machine is really rolling along now. A few very positive developments from the last few days.
The first development comes from Sammy Hagar's own website administrator. She has remained tight-lipped since I broke news of Hagar's move back to Van Halen on November 20. But this week she was again asked two questions - 1. Is Sam working with "Van Halen" again? and 2. Is the rumored "Best Of Vol 2" a reality?"
Her reply: "Number 1 and 2 you'll hear soon..."
Ok, then this...from Grant Fisher of the now closed VHND. He posted this e-mail he received: "A friend of mine named (removed) has been friends with Sammy Hagar for years.
Anyway, he told me tonight that it's official that Sammy is back with Van Halen and that Sammy is playing some show in Walnut Creek, CA and he is going to make the announcement."
I've asked my sources to look into this new info and will keep you posted. More info on the show (this Friday US time) here: www.arf.net/About_ARF/Events/arf_rocks.html
And finally, A&R guru John Kalodner responded to a question e-mailed to him via his site:
Q: Looks like we may see the return of Van Halen with Sammy Hagar! Do you think they will sign with Sanctuary or try for Warner Bros. again?? Plus do you think we will see a Best Of vol.2 before we see any new material? And will we have to wait till fall 2004 for VH to return?
John's answer: "I'm not sure about any of this. I think Sammy may be back with Van Halen, but I'm not positive. I think there may be one or two new songs for a second volume of Best Of. I would love to sign them to Sanctuary, but they may want to stay with Warner Bros. I would love for them to tour again. Nothing is definite and we'll just have to wait and see what lies ahead for Van Halen."
All adds up to an interesting situation. Stay tuned!
I should also take this opportunity to mention that Jesse Harms is officially no longer a member of Sammy's Waborita's. I have confirmed this is indeed accurate, occurring a couple of weeks ago now. I hope to have more news on Jesse and his future plans soon.
Thought you all would like to know.

I did see a post whereby someone said they spoke with Mike and he said after the first of the year and it is after the first, I've been waiting for something. Looks like I'll be looking for something after the 9th. Maybe that evening of the 9th Sammy will say something at the show.

I copied this from Sammy's site:
Sammy and the Waborita's will be performing a semi-electric accoustic set on January 9th in Walnut Creek benefiting the Animal Rescue Foundation. The line up for the evening is Jim Hackenberry (Bay Area Artist), Kevin Cronin (REO Speedwagon) and a comedian guest.

Stmbled across this at vhfroums.com. Here's some more:
"(take grain of salt now...)
Well, first off I guess this time www.melodicrock.com has most of it's
facts right. So much information where to begin... As Hagar confirmed
he has been talking with the brothers for awhile now. The "reunion"
plans go well beyond Greatest Hits Vol 2. Contrary to what they are
saying, I've heard that a new album will be the first line of
business, then a mid-late summer tour, then a Best Of Vol.2 in mid
2005. That's the package/plans pending if Van Halen signs on with
Warner Bros records again (well what was Warner Bros), if they go with
another label Warner Bros will release Best of Vol. 2 in 2004 at the
most oppertune time. Everyone involved understands these plans and yes
WB is using the Best of Vol.2 for some leverage to try and get the
band to sign back on with them (if the band signed with another label
they would have to disclose that WB had plans to release a Van Halen
Best Of and that would no doubt cut into potential sales of any new
CD).
Bob Rock is one of about four producers that might get to helm
production, so don't get too worried yet.
The shit hit the fan more or less three weeks ago when Hagar broke the
news to his band that they wouldn't be on the payroll for most of the
2004 because of his other plans (unlike most bands Hagar pays his band
out of pocket, their checks are from Sammy Hagar). Jesse Harms, one of
Hagar's long time friends, has basically become his worst enemy. Hagar
promised Jesse that he wouldn't ditch the Wabbo's and go back to Van
Halen. These were the terms that Jesse agreed to to join Hagar's band
in the first place. Well, Hagar is trying to sugarcoat the whole thing
for his band, but Jesse still sees it as a break-up and Hagar as going
back on his word.
So what to do, well Hagar knows that Jesse is going to talk and
probably very soon, so the big announcement is getting pushed forward
quickly and everyone agrees (even Eddie) it has to happen now or never
(most likely sometime this week, again the band has yet to even sign
with a label yet... I guess it all could still fall apart, especially
knowing the VH bros).
If all goes well, Van Halen will be playing the two parties in
Houston, not the Wabbos (as that band is no more).
Believe me or don't, my info comes from the source, my employer Warner
Bros Records.
