Yep...AMEN to purchasing a warranty...chances are you'll need it. :p
To answer the question, I have a Creative Labs CD-RW Blaster 8x4x32.
Question: has anyone tried one of Iomega's CD-R drives? If so, what do you think?

Bump. This is a good topic and more people should be able to read it.

I use a Sony 8/4/32...I think it's model CRX140E. I started using the software that came with it but switched to Adpetec Easy CD Creator and like it better.

I bought the burner from www.tigerdirect.com for about $120.00 with a rebate in March 2001. I've burned 100+ discs with no problems (once I figured out how to avoid buffer underruns). The only media I've had a problem with was Maxell.

I have a HP for my computer, about 169 at Wal-Mart. My stand-alone is a Sony, can't remember the model right now, but it works great, I've had it for a few months. I've also heard great things about Philips stand-alones, but I have no personal experience with them.

I got a yamaha 16/10/40
the reason for getting this one ($149)
was the 8mb buffer
which was supposed to help with buffer under run errors...which it has tremendously
i still make coasters once in awhile
but it is far better then my burner
that came with this an hp which gave me nothing but trouble!!

I picked up an Acer 20x10x40 for under $100. I've had it for about two months, and haven't given birth to a coaster yet....

Mine is an HP 9110I, 8x4x32.

The only serious problems I encountered was updating the software for it shortly after installation, and having to reconfigure it when I switched over from Win98 to Win2000. But, other than that, it's worked fine. I'm happy with it.

I have an HP writer as well....out of all the discs I've ripped...I've made 3 coasters on it only....I guess I've just been having good luck with it....

I have an hp 8200 series external. 4x4x6 that is kinda slow when it comes to burning and ripping, but so far no probs and I've burned over 500 disks easy--mostly Mitsui, Maxell, and Fuji. Treat the burner right with good disks. :thumb:
