Alright gang,

I have been relying on Pat and Ron to do the leg work on some of these video trees that I've seeded.  I've got some extra time over the next few days (I only have to work one day out of the next six days!), so I'll start up a tree and do the nug work this time.

I just completed this show and it's probably one of the best audience films I've ever seen.  Picture quality, sound quality, camera work - in every aspect, it's an incredible boot.

(I stole this from Ron's sign up)

DVD Branches will need to burn for 3 to 4 leaves (depending on structure) and will need to accept any of the following from their leaves:
1:1 DVD trades
2:1 DVD blanks
?:1 CD-R / DVD trades

It is up to the branches and leaves to determine details such as brand, number of CDRs to DVD for trade and if trading DVD, Dash-R or Plus+R. [DVD-R (dash R) is preferred].

Please only volunteer for a branch if:

a) You can clone a DVD on a PC based burner
b) Will be available in the early part of January to carry out the tree
c) Agree to communicate with your leaves in a timely manner

If you are signing up for a Leaf, please be communicative with your branch and allow them the time to burn and verify the discs, as they take quite a bit longer than a standard CDR to burn.

Everyone: Please respond to this thread and provide the following details:
Name
Branch or Leaf
How many leaves you are willing to accommodate (if branch)
Location (City, State, Country)
Email Address

The tree signup is open as of the time of this posting, and will remain open until 9:00pm EST on 7 January.

Failure to include all of the required information will mean exclusion from the tree and a delay in getting a copy.

I stole this from a fansite - it describes this video perfectly:

I've seen all the Dio videos out there and this is by far, the best Dio single camera angle video ever! Filmed from the balcony on the left side, it offers incredible close-ups of Ronnie's head filling up the picture! The wide angle shots have a great view of the stage and the audience. The 20x optical zoom was only used as opposed to engaging the digital zoom which adds picture degradation. There is no obstruction in the picture at all and the camera work is very steady. Manual iris was used to insure proper exposure settings which resulted in an incredibly sharp, colorful picture. The sound at this show was incredible, nice and "in your face" with no over-ambience. An external stereo microphone was used and the audio on this video is perfect with great low end and high end and zero distortion.

Since a lot of work goes into a tree, I don't see any reason why I shouldn't sweeten the pot a little with another Dio show that I did recently. Other versions of this probably circulate, but probably not many at this level of quality.

One thing that I really like about this show is Viv Campbell's guitar playing. I have all three proshot Dio boots from the Viv Campbell era, and I think this is the best one.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Here's the info:

Dio
Date: 1985-08-10
Venue: Super Rock '85 Tokyo, Japan
Length: 60 mins
Source: proshot master? > stand alone DVD > demux > mux > DVD Architect
Quality: A / A
Notes: Silver Stallion Productions

1. King Of Rock 'N' Roll
2. Like The Beat Of A Heart
3. Don't Talk To Strangers
4. Hungry For Heaven
5. The Last In Line
6. Holy Diver
7. Heaven And Hell
8. Sacred Heart
9. Rock 'N' Roll Children
10. Long Live Rock 'N' Roll
11. The Man On The Silver Mountain
12. Rainbow In The Dark
13. Stand Up And Shout

Ronnie James Dio - vocals
Vivian Campbell - guitar
Jimmy Bain - bass
Vinny Appice - drums
Claude Schnell - keyboard

I received this as a stand alone burned disk. I demuxed it (with SmartRipper), and muxed it back together (with TMPGenc), captured footage from the disk to make menus, and then authored it using DVD Architect. In other words, I didn't re-encode the video - I used what was on the original stand alone burned DVD (except for the menus - that video was re-encoded).

I'm sure that the source must have been a master because it is very clean.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Unless there are indications that this isn't worth including, I'll go ahead and include it.

Thanks Guitard! You just made my day by including another great DVD. I have a whole spindle of DVD-R's so I'll be willing to branch both DVD's to 5 leafs. I posted my info at the top of this thread. Thanks again!
