The only connection to Van Halen that this has is that both Nuno and Paul pay an indirect tribute to Eddie during the show (no need to explain how - you'll figure it out when you watch the DVD). And - Gary Cherone sings on some of the songs.

Suffice it to say - the quality is as close to official DVD as it gets, and the concert smokes.

The full three hour version is going to be released officially in Japan. No word on a US release, however, this is only half of the show anyway.

I really don't have time to set up any elaborate trees. So I need a couple of people who would like to work that end of it, and I'll send you copies.

29 August 2003

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Here is the write up for the show at the WOWOW website:

Universal Music and UDO Artists, in conjunction with Hard Rock Café’s 20th anniversary in Japan, present Guitar Wars. This will be a unique event
involving 'super guitarists' from different genres and backgrounds. Confirmed artists so far are Steve Hackett, John Paul Jones, Paul Gilbert
and Nuno Bettencourt.

John Paul Jones needs little introduction after being part of one of the greatest rhythm sections of all time with the legendary Led Zeppelin. A
truely amazing bass player, session musician and artist in his own right.

Paul Gilbert of Mr. Big has established himself as a popular solo artist, not only as a super guitar player but also as a pop songwriter. But, as if
to let go of his virtuosic needs, he also plays guitar in his heavy metal unit, Racer X.

Nuno Bettencourt was hailed as the next guitar genius after Eddie Van Halen when he emerged with Boston outfit Extreme. Since turning solo, he has
released 4 albums under monikers: such as Nuno, Mourning Widows and Population 1.

Completing the lineup are Pat Mastelotto from King Crimson on drums, Roger King from the Steve Hackett Band on keyboards and Mike Szuter from The
Szuters on bass. A "super group" in the true sense!

Expect an evening of excitement and surprises? Who knows what what may be brought out of vaults filled with great songs. Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Mr. Big or Extreme classics? Interesting rare covers, maybe. And always watch out for the guitar battles!!

The concerts will only happen once each in Tokyo and Osaka. Don’t miss this experience of a lifetime.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I have to mail this out by Tuesday, or it'll be ten days before I can mail it.

Have a great weekend,

Randy

This really had me scratching my head... I haven't smoked any dope in about 20 years - so I knew it couldn't be that :-)

No trade necessary. Just run the tree for this one and that'll be compensation enough.

I'll mail it on Monday.

Thanks,

Randy

No. I'd much rather wait for the disc to arrive.

I'm gonna close this up, and create a new thread for sign-ups, when the sow arrives. Thanks go out (once again) to Randy for sharing the music !
