It was great to see these guys having fun again. They really looked great, and the energy level was off the hook.

Unfortunately, (in my opinion of course, not to libel the guy) Ed was wasted. I mean really, really drunk. The hip doesn't seem to be bothering him at all, medicated or not. He forgot a lot of the background vocals, and seemd to be making up every fill on the spot (which was actually kinda cool, as I always wished he'd improvised more live), sometimes landing on his feet, sometimes not, but always interesting. It was quite obvious Sam and Ed wanted nothing to do with each other if you compare to previous tours, but to your casual fan I doubt they'd notice. After one particularly major screw up (in Panama I think), Sam leaned over to Ed off-mic and said "you know what you're doing, you're a professional." And after being intro'd for his guitar solo, Ed said, "as if I need a f'ing introduction." That's not the Ed I know, and he was in full "rock star" mode all night, often babbling other incoherences into the mic. He changed up his solo a lot, including a little funkier intro to Mean Street and various other noodlings inspired by whatever planet he happened to be on. Wolfie joined in as with other shows.

It was the standard set for this tour, and Sam played both Eagles Fly and Deeper Kind of Love. Al was very very impressive, just rock solid, and a great solo too. I'm personally glad they've shortened all the solos (not Ed's of course). The video crew really did a fantastic job (looked like 24p to me), thank God, cuz I couldn't see anything but the tops of their heads from my $98 floor seats all night.
