|
|
I got my purple wolfgang in april 2003.
Was planning on using it when my band goes on tour later this year but not now. Peavey already wiped them and the 5150 amp line out of their literature since Eddies endorsement deal ended.
I won't take it on the road because if it gets stolen it will be hard to replace.
I'm sure the value of the guitar will go up with time, does anyone know if this happened with the music man guitars? |

The Wolfgangs will not be holding any great value, I had 3 and sold 2 because they
will actually drop in value. The guitars were mass made by Peavey and having that many
in circulation is not a good thing.
The main reason the Music man guitars are holding good value is due to the limited supply that were put out by Music Man.
The reason Ed stopped working with MM was because the guitar was backordered
around the country for 10 months. He wanted his guitars available to every town in
stock at all times.
So, if you really like the guitar keep it and play it. I have a red one that is the best guitar I HAVE EVER OWNED.

Thanks for the reply.
Are you sure all of the wolfgang models are dropping in value? I didn't get the cheap less than $1K model, I got the higher end model and it cost about $1,700 and I had to wait about a month for it!
I agree with you that it is a great guitar. Only issue I have with it is I fall off the neck sometimes with the hi E string. I also play Les Pauls and Strats and typically rotate playing my 4 to 5 guitars (every two weeks or so). I have to adjust my touch since the wolfgang has a smaller neck. |

not exactly, the real reason the deal fell apart was evh thought he owned the pat. on the pickups, but mr. ball had them in his name, not edwards. when sterling refused to give in on this point, the deal was done. |

it's the same black pearl he used on the VHIII tour !
Maybe these oldest ones can have value being vintage in a ten year !
i will never sell my one , 'cause it sounds so brown that i really like it .

I can't see the price of a used wolfgangs going up, as brad said there's too many around. But it's too early to speculate. I think the early models will command a better price, or if your one of the lucky people who got hold of the pre production, curly maple!!! top models in '96, then the skys the limit.
I remember when the MM reached their peak, one of the rarest was the trans black, just the worst finish you could have IMO...so it's all down to how many are out there.
Sad really, doesn't make it a better guitar, just more of a conversation point.
Not sure if you get the Korean model in the States, but that's great value for money in the UK, get a Luither to put a maple arch top on it and your rockin'. |
