Hey in the middle of doing the David Lee Roth Off the skyscraper I ran into a situation where I was able to adjust the sound of Van Halen Live and Loud (the 1'st night of their 2'nd world tour.)

I was trading with someone and they asked about the clicks and pops of the last few tracks on Live and Loud. I cleaned it all up.

But I lowered the bass as well. It was too basey.

It sounds much better and has no clicks and pops like all the copies before.

Does anyone want to do a tree of this. I will send it free to someone.

Shawn

Lou got a second gen copy of the tape and did a digital transfer, it's really good. Get his, and compare yours and see which is better. I've been thinking the new source needs to be treed on here, it was on jamtothis and etree I think, it's really good.

I'll agree, Lou's copy from jamtothis is awesome. Way better than On fire in Fresno or Live & Loud. He thinks it is a few gens lower then live & loud.

If you need somebody to run the tree I will handle that for either of you...just decide which set you want and contact me and give me some info and I will post the tree.
I know how good the work is that Shawn does. I did tree the DLR Smile Wild for him...of course it took about 5-6 weeks ...but it all was going on when the site got hacked and I had to start the signup over...things got messy for a few weeks...(order in the court room...."I swear I am not guilty...your Honor")...anyhow...let me know...thanks

My copy is a FIRST generation. But I'd be interested to see how the remastered Live and Loud sounds nonetheless.

why bother? ain't nothing gonna sound better than a "FIRST" generation. sheeeit, everybody knows that.

that recently-shared "FIRST generation" version is the only one to listen to anymore (thanks to the generous soul who gave you the tape, and your efforts to author the digital version, Sir Lou).

oy. i am tired. and (obviously) bored.

apologies. whateverrrrrrrrrr

I'm gonna send Hawkstar the show, as well as the 6/21/81 show you just posted, the version of FMFW that have been floating around absoloutly suck.

Not necessarily true. Depends what was done during the re-mixing. A lot depends on the equipement used to copy, playback, mix and master ... many, many factors. Most would say a first gen would be better than a second or third but I would say it all depends.
