Um, oh yes I know this is a stupid question and asking it makes me look like an idiot(baka). but I don't care. just because I am.
so the question is...
How can I know who rated me?
in other words,
who the hell hasn't rated me yet?  |

You can't know. You could ask other traders, but there's no way for you to know who rated you well and who didn't. Sorry. It would likely lead to bad feelings.
If it makes you feel any better, I rated you well.... :thumb: |

Thats why I took mine down, anyone can just post what ever they want. So I let my actual reputation speak for itself. We know who the good Traders are on this site. The bad ones don't usually stick around anyway.
Just my opinion on this... |

I was wondering about that, which is what led me to read this thread. I started at 2.5 someone I traded with rated me, and it wen't up to almost 5. Someone else voted, and now it went back down to 2.5? i haven't traded with anyone else so I was wondering what was up? I guess i'll just have to deal with it since I can't know who the 2nd voter was....

That's an issue in my book. You shouldn't rate a trader unless you've traded with them. Just because someone posts something you like or dislike doesn't mean you should rate them high or low. I agree with RNRV. Reps should speak for themselves.

| And that is why I have given both FrankM and Bill a 5* rating and I have not rated rich...cause I have not traded with him...but I think the rating thing on this site could use an upgrade...the problem is that I dont have a better idea...and when faced with that...I try to keep my mouth shut. If I can't improve the situation..I am not gonna critize it...not that you guys are...but I don't know a thing about web sites...so who am I to start tearing down on somebody else's work. I do not even know how the ating thing works...it is loose...at Jamtothis...when you do post a rating..it does show who posted the rating..and you are given the option to link the item traded...and at Ebay you know that part...but those type programs may cost $$ and Scott may not have them or be alble to use them with his layout here. I like the one at JTT...pretty simple and you can tell if the ratings are bs. Good morning children...class is now in session...Kent :p |

I am with ya Kentster.
Even if I have had a so - so trade where things were crappy I just don't leave a rating. Mom always said if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all.
If you are looking for ANYTHING Sabbath Rich is the man. Fast, professional and friendly. If he lived closer we'd go have a beer!

| I love this site but to be honest I am not fond of the User Feedback. (Sorry Scott) I don't know who I pissed off but when I had only a few ratings someone came along and nailed me good with a 0 and bottomed out my score. :( To my knowledge I haven't had a bad trade on this board where I was the one at fault?? I'm sure I have gotten a few people ticked by a post or two I have made but I would hope the ratings came from trades and not because someone doesn't like the fact that I am overly opinionated. |

Well said Kent, I am thankful for the great things found here, and friends along the way, this is a small detail considering the big picture of this site. ;)

I'm with RNRV on this:
I don't care who has rated me or who has not rated me?? I let my reputation speak for itself. I have posted and been involved in this forum so much that I think people think I'm ok.. Ory :thumb: |

That just goes to prove my point ... ideally people would ONLY rate when they have had a trade but there is nothing to prevent them from rating when they have not had a trade. So, I don't like what you have to say I may just give you a bad rating ... that's stupid. Hopefully most people are using the rating correctly and only using it when they have had a trade but you are always going to have a nutball who is going to rate with no basis at all. Personally I pay more attention to the Recommended Traders Section or the Traders To Avoid Section ... but even there people don't always post the details, when they do though it can be interesting. |

To sort of answer everyone's questions/comments...
No, I won't reveal who voted for whom. There's just no way people could guarantee that that they wouldn't retaliate against everyone who might have given them a zero by giving them a zero in return, sometimes undeservedly.
The ratings aren't perfect, and are only meant to serve as a guide. They are for the most part only for people with whom you've traded. Giving people a 5 just because they seem nice on the forums really isn't why the ratings were created, but how can I police against it? There's really no way unless I program some complicated trading system, where both parties would have to fill out a long form describing all the details of a completed trade before you're allowed to rate someone, and STILL that wouldn't be foolproof.
The ratings are weighed, where people who have 4's or 5's have their votes against others count more than people with no or lower ratings. Still, a 0 or 1 rating can knock a 5 down a few notches. If someone doesn't give you a 5 (and maybe a 3 instead, for instance), it doesn't mean you're a bad trader. After all 2.5 is AVERAGE. I know you're gunning for a perfect 5, but look at some of the top posters and active members -- most of them are in the 4's. A less-than-5 rating is inevitable and even expected.
The ratings aren't set in stone. If you feel that someone has unfairly given you a bad rating, let me know about it and I can "neutralize" it. ;) You do have to be someone whose reputation on the boards is very well known. Newbies or others who seemingly are bickering with other forum members constantly need not contact me regarding this. :D
Frank is right... the Recommended Traders Section and the Traders To Avoid Section are probably a better gauge on how good a trader a person is than the rating. |

Well, I don't know that I am gunning for a perfect 5. My point was, that the only one I have traded with within this forum, is Bill. So, unless it's TAP, which I doubt, (I have traded with him for years and it wasn't within the realms of this forum), whoever the 2nd voter was has not traded with me. So yes, I think someone has rated me unfairly. If it is someone I have traded with in the past before joining here, I invite you to please let me know what you weren't happy with so that I can make whatever it was right. I don't have a problem with someone not being happy for whaever reason, but i'd never say something about anyone, that I wouldn't say right to their face. I don't like the whole "secret" thing. If you have an issue with me, have some guts and say so.....
