Have you scanned your machine for adware recently?

Hey Lance - I also use these two [both are free]:

Ad-Aware:
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

SpywareBlaster:
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Using these along w/ spybot, I've never had any major issues.

This site has never had pop-ups (and never will), except for Private Message notifications. If you're getting any pop-up ads, immediately ditch Internet Explorer and install Firefox and get the AdBlock extension.

Then again, with all the problems others have been having with PMs, it wouldn't surprise me that some have been getting notifications for PMs when they actually haven't gotten any.

Yes, Firefox has been blocking the "new PM" popups here for me, but that still doesn't explain the lack of the E-Mailed notification.

I even tried toggling the notification option off and then back on again. Still no luck.

Lance, as suggested I would try using both adaware and spywareblaster.

As Scott suggested, I would seriously consider switching to Firefox if you're not using it. I used to get tons of adware/malware with IE and now get none with FF. Everyone in a great while you will find a site that won't run with FF but you can always call up IE if that happens.

One night I accidently got into the chat section and couldn't get out. I discovered the "sign out" option is a pop-up which Firefox was blocking.
