I had a problem with both discs as well and I asked for a replacement, and it sucks because now I doubt that's going to fix the problem. Lance and I have the same branch, dokkendude. If you had problems then the problem isn't my branch's equipment used to burn the disc.
I also tried ripping from the discs and re-burning, and that still didn't work. Disc 1 froze in the middle of Uniondale '82, and Disc 2 froze from pretty much the beginning.
I sent Lou my originals to see if that might help
basically to see if maybe it was something on my end
keep me posted Lou |

From what I'm seeing, it appears there is a "structure navigation error" on the orginals and some players/software can handle it fine, others choke.
For those of you who had problems copying the disks, were you attempting to do it with DVD Decrypter or something else like DVD Shrink? Decrypter reports the error but copies them fine while Shrink will not. |

Sorry to see some of you are having problems with these discs! For reference I duplicated them from my DVD+R master to DVD-R using Nero Express and found no problems at all. I also checked every disc for playback on a Sony DVP-NS705V DVD player to be sure.

Chris.
No worries, Chris. We'll get it straightened out.
I noticed that these disks contain a VIDEO_RM file instead of an AUDIO_TS, I had thought this was due to the disks being burned on a Philips stand-alone but, based on what you said above, this doesn't seem true. |

When I got flawed discs, and I re-ripped, I didn't decrypt anything. I simply copied the VIDEO_TS folder onto the desktop (which took a long time) and re-burned, and the result was the same.
Now that being said, the .VOB files themselves, if you watch them on your computer, were actually OK. And if you burned the VIDEO_TS folder as data, and watched the files that way on the standalone DVD player, they were also fine. So something gets fucked up in the process of converting those files to a video DVD, as opposed to isolated data files. |

Hey guys,
Just run them once through VOBBlanker. It should fix those probs.
I had a probs with standalones dvds and it usually fixes the errors.

I also attempted that with the same results.

There is something wrong, or at least "different" but some of the disks do work. The orginals and the copies I've made recently have all been fine.
I'm going to try Bill's suggestion and see where that gets me. |

Ok, I've been messing around with these disks for the past couple of hours and all I can come up with is that there is a problem with the menus. However, this only seems to be affecting some people and as I am not familiar with DVD authoring, I can't be certain I am correct.
Now, I did find a way to fix them.
Copy all the files from the VIDEO_TS folder on the disk to your hard drive and then delete the *.ifo files and the video_ts.vob.
Second, use a program called ifoEdit to create new *.ifo files with the following proceedure.
1. open ifoEdit and click "create IFOs" (near the bottom)
2. For "output stream", select the first *.vob file (VTS_01_1.VOB) and for destination directory check "same as source".
3. Click ok, it will now create new *.ifo files which takes about 5 minutes. When finished, close ifoEdit.
Now, open ifoEdit up again and hit the "open" button in lower right corner. Select one of the new *.ifo files and then hit "Get VTS Sectors" button on bottom. Just select "yes" or "ok" for the couple of prompts you get following this.
When this is all finished, you will end up with a usable set of files which can then be burned to DVD. HOWEVER, the new disk will not have any menus and will just play each video one after the other.
This is all I have been able to come up with, if anyone else has a suggestion, please let me know. |

Essssh !! I wish I would have seen this when I was at home.

I usually load up the .ifo from the dvd and the vobs will appear below.
edit(forgot some stuff): create an output file as the dvd will berestructured and can beburned using shrinkdvd.
Then click on one of the vob files and click process all using the default settings. Sometimes the button won't work and you have to run it via file (its run or process selection I can't remember).
Phillips standalones sometimes encode the dvds a lil different (from what I have read) and it causes the problem.
Try it Vobblanker has helped me quite a few times.
Good Luck!

Just to update everyone. I'm talking to Chris about this at the moment. Although it could take a little bit, I will get this fixed and disks to everyone that needs them.
Right now I now that Lou and Lance have had problems and that there are still people waiting to get them. I'd appreciate it if anyone else who's had a problem let's me know. This doesn't seem to be affecting everyone at this point.
Thanks again for your patience and thanks to everyone who's been trying to help out.
