Yeah, im sure it's great, but im curious how many have dual layer burners on this site and how many can afford the dual layer blanks cause they aint cheap. I understand Cales reasoning behind putting it on one DVD......i guess someone had to make the first step at authorong shows on dual layer....who better than cale.......thx cale

Dual-layered drives are not that expensive....you can get them for under $200. Most of the new titles from here on out that I do will be on dual-layered disc. It makes too much sense not to do them that way.

I saved almost all of the masters that I first put to DVD (the ones with gaps) and now I am re-doing those on dual-layered discs. The discs aren't cheap but it is awesome to have one complete show in high quality on DVD without using a stand alone.

And believe me....this Motley upgrade looks like my VH Largo 1982 upgrade that I did.

I have a dual layer burner, $80, but never use dual layer media. It's still too expensive for me. Until it's cheaper than two single layer disks, it's not worth it for me.

Another question, are the Dual Layer specific like single layer as in DVD-R, DVD+R or RW......They must be i guess.??? or are they....no idea...i guess thats why im asking..LMAO

After doing a quick search I only see +R media available for dual layer. However, since I don't use it I haven't looked that closely. It's still about 8x more expensive.

THIS IS THE SAME ATTITUDE THAT I HAVE...BUT I DID SEE THE DISKS FOR AROUND $4 A COUPLE WEEKS AGO...THINKIN ABOUT MAKIN A PURCHASE AND TRYIN UM OUT...HELL...THEN I CAN GET SOME OF MY MOVIES "BACKED UP" :D

I think there's only +R right now. My burner burns dual layer at 2.5. You can get the burners for pretty cheap. It's still a little expensive for discs though, so I haven't experimented with them too much.

Fuji and Verbatim are the only 2 I have come across thus far. Amazingly enough the Verbatims seem to be the most compatible I have come across...even more compatible than DVD-R discs. Plus it's great to be able to encode and work with shows where space is not really an issue.

I guess that doesn't surprise me. Verbatim has a good name and since most movies come on DL media, the players have no trouble with it.

Have you had any problems with coasters? That would be my concern since you're extending the time for the burn.

I have not had a coaster yet and I have burned well over 20. It does make life much easier being able to put it all on one DVD. Plus you can add all the bonus footage you can fit. On the Motley show I also added all the promo videos from Dr. Feelgood as well as the MTV Rockumentary.
