Step right up! Come one, come all!
FM, the Rush master, has brought us another gem to behold:
2 shows by Rush:
1976 New Jersey
2003 SARSstock
Plus! 2005 Clip "Canada for Asia"
From beginning to end, this is a great creation. As soon as you put the disc in your DVD player, turn up your stereo, sit back, and be amazed.
Good detail has been given in this production too - each show has detailed notes that helps give more depth to the performances. Oh, and there's a slideshow too!
This is on 1 DVD-R
Motivated enough? Good!

THANKS MARIEDJ !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just want to add a little information to this post. Sorry no screen shots are available and I have already dumped the raw files so I can't even go back and grab any. But believe me all this footage is extremely good. I may be bias so you'll have to take MarieDJ's word for it and get it yourself and make your own judgement. I'm gonna be sending out a couple more freebies but don't let that stop you from signing up for this. Share this far and wide. They are great performances, each unique in their own way. I hope everyone enjoys this disc, I had a great time putting it together ...

In the Mood
The Black and White Pro Shot from 1976. Pro Shot and Soundboard audio. This is a great video considering it's age. To be honest it is kindda dark and very raw but their performance was pretty raw too. There aren't many shots of Neil but some nice shots of Alex and Geddy. Personally I think they put on a great performance with lots of energy. I also love the fact that this video has Lakeside Park which pretty much vanished from any live performances after 1976. If you have read anything about this video you proably have read that there are a couple of Watermarks on the screen and they were probably part of the master so there's not much that can be done about it. Sometimes the Watermarks can be a little distracting but other times they aren't too bad. But to see a 1976 Rush performance ... I'll take whatever I can get.
30 - July - 2003
Downsview Park, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Intro by Dan Aykroyd
Tom Sawyer
Limelight

Closer To The Heart
Paint It Black
The Spirit of Radio
Pro Shot and Soundboard audio. This is an excellent, excellent video. It may have come from the Bully bootleg release but I'm not certain. It is awesome to see the band just before they go on and after they come off. Pay attention to the end of this, an interesting little story I didn't share on the DVD is this ... Rush was prepared to play an encore. They were going to play Working Man however someone at the soundboard didn't know that. When they left the stage the soundboard guy started the inbetween act music. I read in an interview whereby Neil commented that when they heard the music they looked at each other not knowing what to do. Alex apparently commented, "Forget it, it would be embarassing to go back out there now." Neil commented in the interview that Alex was absolutely correct and they just walked off and let their crew take down their equipement. If you look closely on this video you can see it happening. After they walk off stage they stand on the side for a moment talk a little bit and then walk off backstage. A real cool piece to this performance is the Paint It Black teaser. They play an instrumental version of Paint It Black for about a minute and a half or so. The first time I heard this I could not believe it. Very un-Rush like. When Alex starts playing it I figure it is going to be a couple second teaser but then Geddy and Neil join in and they play well over a minute of it and it is damn cool!
13 - January - 2005
Canada For Asia
Closer To The Heart
All three members of Rush, along with Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies and Mike Smith of the Trailer Park Boys, performed "Closer To The Heart" for the charity television telethon "Canada For Asia". Airing Janurary 13th, 2005, the event raised money for the Dec. 26th, 2004 Tsunami Disaster Fund. Includes newsclips and photo slide show of Rush in the studio preparing for the benefit. |
