The Montreal show was awesome but too bad there is no DVd boot out there yet  :sus:

I find though that Halen lost a lot of fans in Montreal since the Bell Center was not full ...
Usually there was standing room only when they came to town

Having seen every show in Montreal VH did, perhaps I can shed some light. From '80 to '86, every show VH did in Montreal was SRO. For some reason, Montreal wasn't on the itinerary during the OU812 tour, (I know, because I ended up going to Hartford to see them on that tour).
Montreal fans are very loyal, yet fickle at the same time ; kind of like "we'll support you, and buy the record, but if you don't come to town.... f**k you !!".
When they came to town on the FUCK tour, there were only about 10,000 in attendance, ( probably because of what I just wrote above). That show was however, poor. Sammy was sick, and VH pretty much phoned in their performance that night.
In '95, on the Balance tour, they did better in Montreal, probably because that album was a big seller, and VH had included Montreal on the last tour.
In '98, again, they didn't come to town. Thus, we fast forward to the '04 tour ; by then, there was little interest in VH because they hadn't done anything in 6 years. Add to that the price of tickets, and sorry, but let's face it ; it wasn't a great show ; Ed was pretty drunk, and the fact that there were only about 8,000 in attendance probably didn't help their performance.
There could be other factors too ; with other acts touring, perhaps people decided to spend their money elsewhere. Perhaps the tours where VH didn't come to town were because of scheduling at the venue, or perhaps the promoter turned down an offered gig because they thought it wasn't a money maker.
Maybe this will help answer some of your thoughts/questions. :)

Hey Buddy

Thx for that view :D

Yes I agree with you 100% on your comments :thumb:

I was at that show and I found it great(Content wise) as any other Halen show :D

But unfortunately ,as I can see you were there also , that solo of his was the worst crap I ever seen...Now we are talking Eddie Van Halen "Icon"

They are my favorite band and will always remain that( Thank god for early years...LOL)

To me it was like watching Keith Richards play....

I watched almost all the other 2004 shows and yes they were in best shape before they hit Montreal.....Too Bad

What I would love to see is sober Halen and bring back the EVH that we grew to be amazed by :thumb:

Unfortunately, The quality of their show ALWAYS depends on if Ed is drinking. Whet gets me is, can't he get loaded after the show?? It's like , can't you just wait until after the 2 hours you have to perform for people. He has all this time to get loaded & he picks the time when people have spent hundreds of dollars on tickets! It gets friggin old!!

He was totally sober in Dallas, (Shocker). It reminded me of 1984 with Roth, it was as good quality wise.
Just my 2 cents!! :D
