Vegas is awesome, But it takes a little getting use to in my opinion. My only complaint is that if I rip discs that have already been encoded I haven't figured out how to edit multi-cam without it being re-encoded. Womble does an awesome job of not re-encoding but doesn't do the multi-cam thing very well. I wish I could take what I like about Vegas and combine it with what I like about Womble.

Thanks for the info, that's kind of how I figured it was done... I don't care how much equipment you have - there's still the human element to it. One day I hope to get involved in the production of some DVDs... but I need to upgrade the Mac first...

To sync up, you arrange each angle on a separate track in the timeline. Then you have to find a spot to sync everything to - a drum hit or something (this is why clapboards are used in the production of feature films). And yes, Mac Mini is not adeqaute for editing, but big iMac will do the job.

Cool... 4 years is great service. Think I always tend to look at the 'what if' side of things, my macs get a lot of hammer as there for business, in the last 4 years for me I've gone through 3 tower macs and 2 screens, but my old G3 and it's analogue screen still churns away, coming up for it's 8th birthday. (analogue screens rule for cvh boots LOL).

Still reckon the best buy (non FC Pro software) is a mac mini dv version and a non apple screen, it's only the size of a dvd disc!

I had't really thought much about Macs, although I have some experience with them and started out years ago editing videos on a Mac my son had.

But I saw some Macs at the store the other day and the monitors look amazing (and huge!). I have always heard that Final Cut Pro is a really good program, but I have never used it. I wouldn't mind giving it a shot and I am due for a new computer soon as the one I have is over two years old and I want to move toward authoring the HD footage I've shot in true HD on blu-ray. I have shot some really nice vids with my HD cams that I am not going to release in standard definition - they will first see the light of day as HD / blu-ray productions.

Dirq... personally I'd watch out for the all in one, I've got a couple of mac screens and the benefit of the widescreen format is a better option, plus the fact that if the screen or comp goes on the combo your up shit creek.
Imo... a mac tower would be the best option and a non apple screen as they're over priced for what they are.

Btw... those keyboards are awesome to use.

But, once again, for the benefit of those still waiting and believing there will be a new Police song, or album, here is basically The Mother of All Interviews where Stewart repeats and summarizes what he always said during the past year and a half.

"We will have completed our mission," said Copeland in a phone interview, "and we feel very strongly that we want to get back to the other aspects of our lives as creative artists, and the Police is not about being creative artists."
"It's about re-enacting a canon of material, a ceremony, and there's a lot of value and a lot of drama to that, and it's very powerful," Copeland says. "We feel the power of a Police concert, which is about these songs, which have 20 years of people's lives infused in them. There's a real dramatic impact playing these songs, and we feel the return energy from people hearing them. And we see them reacting to them, and it's very powerful and that's why we're doing it."

But with "creative drive," in mind, he says of the reunion: "It's not about making anything new, and as artists, we gotta make new stuff.

"So come August, when this tour is finished, we will resume our former lives."

Police concert dates are booked until early August. After that, Copeland is looking forward to life getting back to normal.

"I really enjoyed my job and my life before the Police came along and I hope to return to it pretty much exactly as it was before. I'll get back into my Jeep Cherokee, and keep on dropping my kids off at school and writing music like I was before," he says.

About Savannah: "The room lit up," he says. "There were only 1,200 people rather than 80,000, but the spirit in the room was such that I can't wait to do more of that."

He's also working on a book, tentatively titled Afterglow, about his post-Police adventures.

"It just happens that after being in a band, life doesn't stop, life goes on," Copeland says. "And if it's been a particularly successful one, the life afterwards can be interesting. Strange things happen that don't happen to normal people".

Dirk, if you switch to mac, don't go for the minimac's, they're great (and cheap) for everything but FC Pro. Your gonna need a lot of process power to use the apps.

On another note... I've just got a multicam in and the biggest bug in the production for me is the difference in the filmers cams. One is high in contrast and colour, the other a tad dark and soft in colour. Is it possible to balance/match two cams in the final mix? it's something that would greatly improve the final product.
