name your three great bands:
AMERICAN:
VAN HALEN
AEROSMITH
KISS(74-78)
BRITISH:
THE BEATLES
LED ZEPPELIN
BLACK SABBATH
I have to break them up into sections because as we all know the beatles trumps them all

OK, what the heck, I'll play ...
American ...
Van Halen (of course - no explanation needed)
Aerosmith (they are not my favorite but I do kindda dig them and after so many years to still be a major act is impressive on its own)
Kiss (again not a favorite but they have stood the test of time and they have changed the music world - made it more of a business than it ever was and showed what marketing could really do)
British ...
Pink Floyd (they made some incredible music and created a fan base that is unbelievable, for decades they only toured stadiums and easily pulled it off)
Rolling Stones (I'm not big on the Stones but you can't deny what they were able to accomplished and the ride that they have had)
Led Zeppelin (I kindda see a trend here, again, I kindda dig them but they are not among my favorite bands but they have to be one of the greatest bands of all time, they are ledgendary)
Canadian ...
Rush (nearly single handedly put Canada on the map, like Van Halen they should need no explanation, disclaimer, they are my all time favorite band)
Triiumph (Rik Emmet's playing is awesome and the band knew how to do a live show, Sport Of Kings is still one of the best concerts I have ever seen)
Bare Naked Ladies (again not one of my favorites but they took Canadian music Pop and they can be funny at times)
Those are the greats but if you wanted my favorites ...
Rush
Van Halen
Pink Floyd
special shout outs to ...
King's X
Extreme
Aerosmith
The Police
Michael Hedges (I don't know if you would count him)
Iron Maiden
Metallica
Motley Crue
REO Speedwagon (pre-1981)
Journey (pre-1986)
U2 (can't believe I almost forgot them)
The Cure
oh, so many more ... _________________

I have to agree with Frank on this too... They are all great bands and some I'm not a fan of but they still managed to have a following even after all these years. _________________ 2 Time VHT Fantasy Football Champion!!!

For me top three:
Van Halen- love them as much today as I did in 82 when I first heard Diver Down as I approached puberty!
Metallica- thanks to VH for having them on Monsters of Rock or I may never have gotten into them.
U2- still my all time favorite concert. _________________ "It's time to get busy livin' or get busy dyin'"

I've changed my mind ... I don't like any band in this thread any more. I've come to the realization that they are all quite bad. I'm gonna go listen to my old Milli Vanilli CD, maybe I can steal my daughters Hannah Montana CD. I think Vaniila Ice was way underrated, "Ice, Ice, Baby". now that's the real good music. Didn't William Hung put out a CD too? I wonder where I can pick that up. _________________
