I think we have tried the vine thing before and for some reason somebody fails to fall through somewhere down the line...
You can always sign up as a branch for any tree and the requirements will be waived... If your just boosting your posts to make the requirements and then sign up for every tree as a leaf eventually you won't make the requirements on my tree..
Sign up as a branch and your in on any tree and you don't have to wait the 3 months. Ory _________________ 2 Time VHT Fantasy Football Champion!!!

But, Good things come to those who wait....the new tree requiremebts that we started a few months back seem to be working in my opinion. You will see some changes in the rules tree to tree as we have different opinions on what they should be. But the one time shoppers seem to have stopped and moved on.......hang in there....this site rocks...great shows, great traders.

I agree RNRV!! I have noticed the requirements have helped out and we have discouraged people from signing up and getting whatever discs are being tree'd out and running with them to never be seen again.
We ran into that problem when the new VH shows that were being let out and when the Crue started their tour we had a bunch of newbies trying to get on the tree we had but didnt make the requirements.
As time goes by there will be changes but it works out better for the person running the tree at the end.. It's more work looking through how many posts people have, if 1/2 of their posts are not sign ups, and ETC... Shit, it's more work for me now but it's all worth it for me!! _________________ 2 Time VHT Fantasy Football Champion!!!

Well im all for trying new things...but with the trees...if it aint broke dont fix it...but its just my opinion.....others may be willing to try this...but its been mentioned before and never gotten off the ground. Plus, Trees are much faster than vines.

The little bit of experience that I have had with vines was/is just terrible...I love the trees...the fact that you have success with the vines is relative to having great traders..you will see that here at vhtrading almost everyone falls under that description...give the trees a shot...if you cant get on one...just about anybody that has a burner will do a trade. I am still "new' to all of this but I have had no problem getting any disks that I seek. If I ever have anything that you could use...feel free to call on me...I will be right there to get the job done.

spaceace35,
I wasn't refering to you in general and I apologize for writing it that way. We have had too many people come in here and see the requirements and the next thing we know they post 10 a day trying to make their 30. We have the problems of people signing up for every tree we have and never once offer to be a branch (if they can) for any future trees. For people who run trees or for people who always sign up as a branch it gets kind of fustrating seeing these people just join in the forum for the freebies and being the same people for every tree as a branch. Thats why my requirements are a little different then the other requirements that are on here but with my requirements I have noticed that people are more willing to be a branch.. I don't know if it's because I'll send them the disc for free or it's because they are trying to help.. For me it doesn't matter and I am so happy to see everybody offer their services as a branch and trust me it makes it so much easier on me on my trees.
If you look at the artwork threads more the 75% of people looking for artwork are people who just sign up to the forum looking for the artwork for discs they download or received in a trade. We don't know if these same people come in here looking for artwork so they can turn around and sell in Ebay... Trust me I know and it sucks seeing the stuff you do being sold on Ebay. Ever since I started watermarking "Trade Only!" on my artwork it I haven't seen the artwork on Ebay anymore. I have had people who I never seen on here PM asking me if I can send them the artwork without the watermarking.. Ya right!! The only people I will send the artwork to are people I have dealt with for years.
Like I said, I do apologize for the way I wrote my last thread and I wasn't attacking you and you will see this is the best forum on the web. In time you will see people do help each other out here and even though I'm sick of trading and kind of stopped trading myself I do try to offer a new tree every few weeks for everybody to build their collection. We are just trying to control the leechers for ruining it for everyone else.
Welcome to the forum and looking forward in seeing you on our future trees...I hope this kind of cleared up the misunderstanding... Ory _________________ 2 Time VHT Fantasy Football Champion!!!

thats cool
i understand each board has different rules.
i personally ask for artwork cuz that to me completes the package.
and it makes it much easier to find too lol.
i've never sold anything on ebay just addicted to buying on it lol.
when i have artwork that someone needs i try to find it or supply it myself [if i can get my scanner to scan it straight]
in the near future i hope to branch myself but i want to find something people will want.
so all is good

Hi Scott/ all
I am new to the whole trading area, but I have been a V.H fan for many years. I was always hoping to get into trading but I was reluctant about certain things. These ideas all sound great and definitely make for safer trading. I have no problem with regard to waiting until I am considered a reliable trader. I hope to chat and swap many boots with every one soon.
Thanks
Shane

I think vines work better in smaller, "closed" environments where everyone pretty much knows everyone else - invitation only mailing lists etc. Though there's nothing to stop people doing them here independently of tree is there? Maybe they would work for lesser interest shows (say 5-10 people want them.)
As for the three month tree requirement: once the tree is running, the discs are usually in the hands of 20-30 people within a couple of weeks, and at that time you should be able to trade pretty easily with only a week or so delay beyond the people on the tree getting it. So it's not a huge barrier to obtaining shows, but it is a good incentive for getting more involved with the forums which is at least half the point I think.

To participate, in any TREE you must meet these requirements:
1. You must be a member here for 6 months.
2. You must have at least 75 posts in the forum.
3. In order to participate in a tree you must have a PC/DVD/CDR burner to sign-up.
4. You have to trade show/s or blank disc/s in order to receive your TREE disc/s.
5. After your 3rd sign-up in a row as a LEAF you must offer to be a BRANCH.
6. LEAFS will be required to trade disc/s to members who missed the sign-up or didn’t meet the requirements.
The SEED (TREE organizer) will determine who will be BRANCHES, although your help would be appreciated if you offer.
There is NO BRANCH waiver.
BRANCHES will have no more then 4 LEAFS.
Depending on the amount of BRANCHES that sign-up for the tree the LEAFS may be on a first come first serve basis.
All the LEAFS may not be guaranteed a copy of the disc/s.
There will be a 7 day period for LEAFS to make contact with their BRANCH. If a LEAF fails to contact their BRANCH they are off the TREE. It's all about communication!!!
These rules apply to any tree started on or after 12:00 noon CT 01/19/07. _________________ 2 Time VHT Fantasy Football Champion!!!

Gotta question regarding #3 - if the tree is for an audio CD, do you still need a PC/DVD burner to sign-up? Or can you just have a PC/CDR burner?
Thanks,
