Hey I know VH ripped out “5150″ a couple of times during the Balance tour but it was an incredibly rare occurrence. The only time I am aware that they played it is in “St Louis, MO” as I have the 2 cd set but its awful quality sound but still cool to hear.

does anyone have any video footage of this show or happen to have the other time on audio or video where they pulled “5150″ out during the Ambulance / Balance tour? I’d love to find some video of that.

I was in the second row at the Pine Knob show here in Michigan and, when Sammy was talking during the encores, I swear I thought I heard Eddie messing around with the intro chords quietly through the monitors (As I recall, it was right around when they played it live in St. Louis.) Alas, they never did do it in Michigan.

Which night ?

When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor?

I love 5150. I almost was gonna go to St. Louis and was highly mad at myself for not going after I found out they played it. :(

I’d have to check. I have a 2CD set at home with it and man it sounded smoking. Even though the quality was not that great watching Ed play “5150″ during Balance tour must have been superb….. he was so razor sharp back then and I loved his tone. I wish I could find some video of that night.

I almost think it might have been that one time they played it during Balance and maybe not another time. After the song was over Sam mentions that they have not played the song in 5 years. Which is actually not true because they played it in 93 oversees just not much here in the States…

Id love to hear VH & Sammy do that song live …its one of my favs. I have heard Sammy do it in Cabo a few times. I wish 5150 made it onto the greatest hits package from 2004 (it needs to be remastered)
btw, can anyone tell me why the song is named 5150? Ive never really thought about it, but driving home from Tahoe last weekend I played it, and during the song I wondered why they named it 5150 when the song has nothing to do with the title?

One of if not the favourite VH song for me.
The way Ed was playing on the 2012-13 shows imagine how great this would have sounded even as a instrumental..
Love the version they did of it in Germany in 93..

EDDIE’S fingers aren’t fingers they are muscle-powered pistons that hammer guitar strings to the fretboard with the force of a rivet gun”.

I have often wondered the same thing.
