Balance is the tenth studio album by American hard rock band Van Halen hailing from Pasadena, California. The album was released on January 24, 1995 by Warner Bros. records, and produced by Bruce Fairbairn. It is the final of four albums to feature Sammy Hagar as the band’s lead vocalist.
The album ended up on the Billboard 200 list at number 1 in 1995 and reached triple Platinum on May 12, 2004 by selling more than 3 million copies in the United States.

My thoughts.
Balance , MWM & CGTSNM are the best audio engineered stuff VH has done.Great levels on all instruments
DONT TELL ME, AMSTERDAM, AFTERSHOCK, THE SEVENTH SEAL, BALUCHITHERIUM, FELLIN, CROSSING OVER are the stand outs for me..

That was one of those tours when the band was trying to keep it together. They didn’t seem a band playing, just 4 guys doing a show.

I don’t think I’ve ever given it a full listen. Truth is, the only song I recognize from the list is Amsterdam!

I’d skip “Strung Out” and “Doin’ Time”, but I find the rest of the album to be quite good. Also don’t mind the bonus track (Crossing Over) either.

When the drums & bass kick in on this on a good sound system it ROCKS…We use to have a ski boat and had this cranking on the boat stereo , 4 speakers and a sub woofer…
And Amsterdam the work between Ed & Al is awesome…

I still listen to this record… the sound it’s so powerful !
Back in 1995, I heard the fading part of Don’t Tell me..just the last 30 seconds, .on my local Italian MTV. channel..( Videomusic , the same that recorded the Van Halen show at the Factory, in MIlan at the end of January 95 ).

The next day I rushed to a local CD store, and bought the CD…

Probably the best sounding album of that era.. Crossing over should have been included on the US release. I saw them a few times on this tour – the best was the S.Florida show. Sam was sick, so he didn’t sing much. The band did extended solos, especially during YRGM… they played the break 1984 style. That was fun to hear.

There is a sonic appeal to this album for me but the lyrics are underwhelming IMO. I love the Sammy version of VH but I feel this is his weakest effort. That being said Edward has some great riffs and solos…….love me some Aftershock and Balechitherium!
