Hey Guys,
Does anyone happen to have any great sounding audio bootlegs from the Born In The USA Tour? I heard bits of the shows from Philly and Kansas City. I wouldn’t mind having those 2. If anyone could recommend any others, that would be great. Thanks guys,

Hey Matt,

I’ve got the Philly CD titled “The Full Spectrum” which is the complete show on three discs of the 3rd night and the fourth disc is highlights from the other nights – the only slight downside is I only have it on CDR, I don’t have the FLAC files.

Also got a couple of great pro-shot DVD’s from the BITUSA tour if you’re interested, “Whole Lotta Rosie” and “Breathless In Paris”. “WLR” is a single disc from Toronto 26 July 1984 and isn’t the full show (it’s just under 2 hours and also includes around 40 minutes of extras). “BIP” is from 29 June 1985 and is the complete show over three discs. Also got a couple of audience shot ones from ’85 (Philly & East Rutherford) but the first two I mentioned are the best by far.

If they’re of any interest, just let me know.

Hi Mark,

I think who originally put it out released it in PAL so as far as I know, my copy’s PAL. Just out of curiosity, does it matter if a disc is PAL or NTSC? The reason I ask is my crappy old dvd player will play both no problem, it’s only if the disc has a different region code than my player that I would encounter a problem.

Sadly, my DVD player will not play it all. I know the newer DVD players play both as well, but my machine is fairly old.

Other than the firmware that tells it what to do, there isn’t any difference between a PAL vs NTSC DVD player. In other words, the factory cranks out a bunch of DVD players, and then programs them to be either NTSC or PAL (or both). Whatever the case – the players are identical. So getting an “NTSC only” DVD player to play PAL disks is usually just a matter of cracking the firmware.

Randy, you’re definitely right about there being no difference between a PAL & an NTSC DVD player. I think the region coding must have something to do with it though.

I’m in the UK and my old Panasonic player is PAL/region 2 – it will play any bootleg DVD-R whether it’s PAL or NTSC but it will not play an official DVD bought from a store unless it’s region 2 – so I can’t play an American import DVD that’s NTSC because it’s region 1.

Does this then mean Mark’s problem is not his DVD player but his TV cannot convert the PAL signal to NTSC?

I’m not sure about the matter regarding the player –> tv signal issue, but cracking the firmware also makes the player “region free.”
