Ok guy’s is in gernam but the WDR ( German broadcast) is sending the Chickenfoot show of Jan 19 th on tv later this month

WDR Rockpalast always does some of the best live coverage of bands. Shows they’ve done of other bands really smokes.

Of course, it’s a matter of personal preference, and I understand that a lot of people like the way Rockpalast does shows these day. But for me – I have a hard time watching most recent Rockpalast videos because of the “modern” production style they now use there. The constant split second scene changes, going in and out of focus, the ultra-fast zooming in/out, the fast sweeping camera panning, etc. almost literally give me a headache after a few minutes of watching. I just can’t enjoy myself while watching their shows.

Yeah, sometimes it’s a fine line between making it exciting and going too far. But at least they keep the cameras on the stage and mix the audio well. A lot of broadcasts for Euro shows at festivals constantly go back to the crane shot of the audience. Who cares what the audience looks like, show me the BAND!

Rockpalast had a major shake up somewhere around 2002/3 if I remember rightly and the chap who ran everything (Peter Ruchel?) retired from the show. Since then production values have plummeted into the MTV style crap that Randy describes. Its a shame as the programs output from 1974 right up to the late 90s was awesome, both technically and artistically.
