I’m glad that we’re getting the masters out in circulation now. I’m hoping we’re going to see/hear some unreleased shows soon. I heard Dave put the squash on the new Spatial Audio remastering of the VH catalog that Dweezil was working on and it doesn’t seem as though Al has any interest in putting anything new or unreleased out any time soon. I keep hoping that those who are sitting on copies of shows that have yet to be circulated finally just let them out. There will no longer be any new “Van Halen”, so why not just liberate all of that old footage and give the fans something as yet unreleased and exciting to enjoy? It juts seems pointless to let that footage sit in the darkness forever. We’re all not getting any younger. I’d hate to see this stuff get swept into the dust bin of history.

Why would Dave squash Spatial Audio?

Makes zero sense so probably true.

…Zero Discipline

My long time friend (and former guitar teacher) is close friends with a mutual friend of Dweezil and this mutual friend told my friend that Dave stopped it, because he felt Dweezil was too much of an EVH fan. That’s all he told me, but I would gather that Dave felt the mix would be too focused on Eddie’s playing and not enough on Dave’s vocals. It seems to me that focusing on Eddie’s playing would be the only logical thing to do.
