Came across a “news story” that mentioned a connection between a band called “D’Molls”, and David Lee Roth. It mentioned they were managed by DLR. Haven’t no memory of this, I did a little digging.

Seems that D’Molls were originally known as The Chicago Molls, and they came to LA back in 1985 and landed a record contract with Atlantic.

Not sure if they were actually managed by DLR, or DLR’s people (Pete Angelus and Pat Whitley).

Eventually the lead guitarist, Desi Rexx, moved on and joined David Lee Roth’s touring band playing rhythm guitar, but after months of rehearsals and a couple of days on tour, he was let go.

I have a radio broadcast on cassette of the premiere of “A little Aint Enough” hosted by “Red Beard” (remember that guy) and its pretty much a song by song breakdown and DLR references Desi Rexx and Brett Tuggle on keyboards who were going to be touring members. Didnt know he got dropped so quickly.

BTW: I have two D’Molls CD’S – Not to bad, the signer has a kind of talk/sing thing going on.

Roth, while he doesn’t name him explicitly, does not talk about Rexx kindly in his autobiography. Basically Roth said the guy asked for more money once the tour started or he would walk. So Roth let him walk.

I remember that part in the book, but I wasn’t sure if he’s referring to Rexx or Joe Holmes? Or is Joe Holmes the replacement who joined the tour after the first guy left…

Rexx was definately in Glasgow on the opening night, playing some nice slide guitar. Think he did the UK then was punted!

No- Terry Kilgore is who David was referring to in his book. On the ’94 Tour he quit unexpectedly supposedly wanting more money according to Dave then was replaced by Rocket Richotte for the rest of the ’94 Tour

Bob Ezrin was the initial producer for the ALAE album. He brought in Steve Hunter. There were many demos with another guitarist before Jason Becker during preproduction.

Now- This Desi Rexx D’Molls connection had something to do with a dispute within the band aallegedly Pete Angelus & Patrick Whitley whom were involved had Desi Rexx join the DLR tour specifically to dissolve the D’Molls band without entangling them from contractual stipulations of some sort.

Rocket Richotte worked on demos touring first in ’91 then again in ’94.

Rudy Leiren was guitar tech on the ’91 Tour as well as the ’93 studio sessions in NYC Power Plant with Nile Rodgers producing for the Filthy Little Mouth album.

Interesting, I’ve never heard anything about Bob Ezrin being involved in ALAE. What are you compiling the info for?

I’m pretty sure Rudy was also guitar tech on DLR’s 1994 tour as well. I remember DLR introducing him at one point during a show: “Ladies and gentleman, Rudy Leiren. Works for me, works for Ed Van Halen – both for 20 f*cking years”

Joe Holmes wasn’t the replacement. He was the other guitarist for the entire tour.

Terry didn’t leave the tour because he wanted more money. He left the tour because he was sick as a dog. At least that’s what he told me when Dave & I interviewed him for our podcast recently.
