is it possible to recover parts of a dvd that is missing or corrupted? just curious as I taped an extreme show. now only half is now on my dvd. any help would be appreciated.

Are you looking at it with a DVD player or a computer? Does it play better on either?

Basically, the content is just computer files on the disc, so if you open it in your computer, you should see a folder called “VIDEO_TS”, and in that folder is your show. There will probably be several files. Your video will be the larger ones. You should be able to view each of those files separately using something like VLC.

As for a physically damaged disc, I dunno. Is it scratched? Maybe it can be polished.

I’ve had DVDs in the past that wouldn’t play on a DVD player so I stuck in them in my computers and they worked there. I have a PC and a Mac, and sometimes the DVD wouldn’t work on the PC but would only play on the Mac. So long story short, I’d keep trying different computers to see if they can read it, and as soon as you find one, copy the data to the hard drive.

I’ve tried as many as 5 different computers before finding one that works. Then again, I’ve tried up to 5 computers and none of them worked…. Good luck and don’t give up too soon!

If you can get it to work on a pc or mac rip it right away so you can burn a fresh copy

thanks for the info. I recorded extreme`s pornograffiti where they played it straight through. burned it to a dual layer plays half the show then stops. in my computer it kinda just spins. lesson learned on dual layers.
