There is no way Ed will come on as a guest & be grilled why Mike and Sammy are not in the band.
May be he could be the guest guitarist that plays before the add breaks but doubt that.
It might be a pre recorded segment from 5150..

I wonder if Jim mentioned Ed when he was not meant to or if it was to get attention after his Dave podcast..

Happy to finally share the official news; That Metal Show has been renewed for more episodes! Our 13th season of shows has us moving back to NYC where we all still live and are based and where the show started. Doing to show from NYC enables us to do more consecutive new episodes in a row. Instead of 8 episode seasons the next run will be 12 new shows in a row. We will also be shooting a show a week for 12 weeks. In this all new format for us you will see the shows air just a few days after they are shot. So more new shows and they will be much fresher when they get on TV. The show was moved to LA for years since that’s where 90% of artists live, and that is still the case, but the hope is in this format we can get artists to come to us while on tour. The show is also now so established and popular (thanks to YOU) that we hope artists will be willing to make the trip East to be on with us. Too early yet to reveal any guests. As usual tickets to be in the audience will be distributed by VH1 and I will post those links here, on Twitter and on my site when released. So keep an eye out. What I can tell you is our first new show will tape 1/14 and debut on VH1 Classic 1/18. My sincere thanks to everyone for helping me continue this amazing ride. My history as a host with VH1 Classic goes back to 2002, and I am honored and grateful to continue my great relationship with them and continue to help grow the music we love! I think you totally nailed this – Trunk would definitely hit him with that line of questioning.

Truthfully, those are the tougher questions I’d like to see answered. The softball questions I already know the answer to. Either way I’d love to see Ed on TMS. I hope he does it.

No he won’t. He will hit him with a bunch of soft balls, just like AXL Rose. He knows better then to do that to Eddie. There are some guys that won’t answer the hard questions. You get the soft ball ones or nothing with Eddie these days. He might talk a good game when Eddie is not on or when Sammy or Mikey are his guests, but most people would rather watch a EVH interview over a Michael Anthony or even a Sammy one. Even if it’s no new information.

Presumably Janie will do a little behind-the-scenes legwork on this and make sure Trunk knows the boundaries for questions.

Probably the closest we’ll get is something like, “Do you ever foresee a possible reunion with previous band members?” To which Ed will respond with something like, “Why? We got a full band.”

Might also get something about Wolf going off on his own someday and what’ll you do then about a bass player?

I definitely dont want to see Eddie turn into what Sammy has become these days. Ed has taken the high road and kept it all in house as it should be. Maybe if he ever releases a book and needs the extra publicity he may say something….

The fascination is that every reporter asks Sam and Mike about it so it is logical the verse would be true. But I agree with guitard if this happens there will be all sorts of limitations set up in advance. Trunk isn’t Woodward and Bernstein. If Trunk is told something is off limits … he ain’t going there.

You guys are so right. Eddie will control the interview. What I wonder is why Eddie would do it at all? He has to have some upcoming plans about the band that he wants made public by him so there are no mistakes. If that’s true, he better not tell Dave what those plans are before the show is taped!

No guest names have been let out yet. Maybe it was a slip or a publicity stunt.
