Mike says it was Dave who told Eddie to turn around his back to the audience when he played the hammer-ons at some of the club shows before their breakthrough.

He said he was recently watching an old original era LIVE SHOW on VIDEO at home and blown away by how wild and crazy the audience was.

Then Eddie Trunk mentioned the US Festival right afterwards so that’s not the Live Show Mike was talking about. Some funny little tidbits of info in this interview. Talked about how juiced Dave was at the US Fest in a good way then mentioned listening to the tapes for the tv special and thinking they’ll have to fix the vocals. Heh, Heh.

Mike said he hasn’t listened to the new album in full yet only a few tunes. Then he remembered some of them from before.
Not really a fan of the host Eddie Trunk though. He talks too long when asking the question imo. Wish he’d just fire off the questions quickly and cut to the chase. Wish I could interview him I’d ask better question and cover many more topics. .So far I’ve just fast forwarded through parts of it so shouldn’t judge yet I’ll listen to the full podcast later on.

yeah it’s so hard to listen to Trunk… he’s so verbose and lengthy in anything that comes out of his mouth. Knowledgeable guy … but hard to listen to.
I wanna kill myself the same way when I listen to his radio show on Sirius occasionally.

Trunk is a douche. It’s cool to hear Mike talking about this stuff, though. It has to be a bitter pill to swallow for him. I hope he does write a book some day. I’d love to hear his uneditied story of the rise and fall of Van Halen while he was in the band. Good stuff.

I’ve seen this a few times… it’s cool and all, but for as much as mike loves to talk Dave and the band down and praise sam it’s funny that it’s a CVH tune and not hagar. People don’t want to hear that material.

he still sounds great even without a rack of eventide clockworks harmonizers and DDL’s..just his voice..

He does, it’s a shame we can’t have that full reunion..
