So Ed spent a career making the ‘perfect’ guitar.
Do you think that using today’s technology would make the songs of yesterday sound better?
Eruption?
Make the assumption that a 19 year old Ed had today’s guitars. What do you think?

NO ! It’s all in the hands.

When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor?

Nope…much as I like his current sound with the Stealth, its still not a patch on his tone from the first few albums IMO.

Well… I think everything Eddie did on VH1… is something that cannot be replicated….using modern equipment…

and… even with a Stealth back then, Ed would have come up with the same perfect VH 1 sound.. :-)

And thinking of his sound on ADKOT… well, I really like it… it’s heavy and crispy at the same time..( I use the English words I know… in order to express my feelings in terms of sound… :-) ) and… yes, I would define the moder Van Halen tone as HEAVY AND CRISPY !

I agree with Chris… Ed’s guitar tone on the opening riff of YRGM is to die for!

There Is a reason vintage guitars cost a ton of bucks.
