id='q-68978'>
[Found this rumor on FB]

A New Chapter for Van Halen: Alex Van Halen and Steve Lukather Team Up for New Album

Rock fans, brace yourselves for an exciting development in the Van Halen saga. Alex Van Halen, the renowned drummer and co-founder of the legendary band, has announced that he is working with Toto guitarist Steve Lukather on new songs for a forthcoming Van Halen album. This news has sent waves of anticipation through the music community, as the collaboration promises to deliver some unforgettable tunes.

In a recent interview with De Telegraaf, Alex Van Halen revealed that there are numerous recordings he made with his late brother, Eddie Van Halen, before Eddie’s untimely death from cancer in 2020. Eddie Van Halen, the iconic guitarist whose innovative style and virtuosic playing left an enduring mark on the world of rock music, spent countless hours in his 5150 studio in Hollywood, crafting new material with his brother.

After Eddie’s passing, speculation about the existence of unreleased songs began to swirl. Fans were eager to know if hidden gems were waiting to be discovered. Alex confirmed that he chose Steve Lukather to help bring these songs to life because of the close friendship and artistic bond between Eddie and Steve. “Ed and Steve Lukather were very good friends and they often worked together,” Alex explained. “There is no one who can do this process with me as well as he can.”

Steve Lukather, known for his impressive work with Toto and his extensive career as a session musician, shared his excitement about the project. During a concert with Toto in Arnhem, he confirmed the news, saying, “Ed, Alex, and I were very close for years. It is true that we worked on it together.” Lukather’s involvement in the project adds another layer of authenticity and skill, ensuring that the new material will honor Eddie’s legacy.

The last studio album released by Van Halen was “A Different Kind of Truth” in 2012, which marked the first time in 28 years that the Van Halen brothers worked with original singer David Lee Roth. The anticipation for new music from Van Halen has been building ever since, and this collaboration with Steve Lukather has only heightened the excitement.

While the release date for the new album has not yet been announced, fans can rest assured that Alex Van Halen and Steve Lukather are dedicated to creating a fitting tribute to Eddie’s enduring influence and the band’s storied legacy. As we eagerly await the next chapter in the Van Halen story, one thing is certain: the music world is about to be rocked once again.

I read it as Steve coming in & going through the archives & giving his input as to what
material would be interesting enough to release to the public & producing it in a way
that would honor Ed & put a smile on Al’s face. One good question would be, who would
play any added bass lines & will there be any vocals on the release ? A lot of Jimi Hendrix
material that has been released after his death has been instrumental in nature.
Time will tell.<br
