So a friend of mine who actually recorded HBB shows back in the day recently told me he found some of his VHS tapes. He mailed a few out to me and this weekend I was scanning thru these two ancient tapes. The gem I found contains a near complete show from 7-2-88 and is about 2 hours and 40 mins. These episodes were 3 hours in ’88 so this was impressive to find this and it contains all the commercials. The show is Hosted by MARK GOODMAN. I actually missed this show when it aired but I never ever saw any episodes with MG. He mentioned at one point in the show he was filling in for ADAM CURRY that day. The show is very good! It contain the contest winner annoucement by DWEEZIL ZAPPA himself. I never recalled that contest..win a recording seesion and a guitar as well as write a song/make a video for it.. It also has great promo during commercials of the VH Monster’s of Rock tour that year. The best tour ever as far as I am concerned. Was really cool to see this commercial bc I have never seen that one until now. It also mentioned during the commercials that the VH MONSTERS SPECIAL program will air the following weekend. That I did watch and record myself back in the summer of ’88. The video quality for this is pretty damn good considering the thing is nearly 30 years old… and vhs tapes are junk. They just didn’t preserve well with time. This actually is recorded in EP mode and is one of the better pictures I have even watched! Very well preserverd and looks great!!! I would score the picture an 8 or 8.5 for a VHS grade outta 10. The sound is a bit weak due to the EP mode but still not bad….. just a slight volume decrease. I would score it about a 7 on the scale of 10. Not bad.

I am putting it to DVD in SP mode so It will be a 2 dvd set.
