…Just in from VHND: We have some exclusive details about the upcoming Van Halen Japanese TV Special airing next week. Here’s everything we know:
*It will be broadcast in Japan, Tuesday, August 7th on BS-TBS. It is part of the SONG TO SOUL series. The entire show focuses on Van Halen’s #1 hit, “Jump.”
*The show is nearly one hour long – much longer than other “Song to Soul” episodes.
*All or most of the footage shown will be brand new, exclusive interviews. They’re not simply using lots of old footage which diehard fans have seen before.
*The new interviews of David, Eddie and Alex discussing “Jump” at Dave’s house were filmed just two weeks ago.
This sounds like a great show! We’ll be sure to feature the episode on VHND if it gets uploaded online.

If ANY of our friends in Japan can “DVR” this, I’d personally forever be in your debt and would love a hard DVD copy.

Don’t get me wrong . . . I’m glad they are putting themselves out there and being media friendly and all . . . but an hour discussion . . . about the song “Jump?”

I’m sure Dave will do most of the talking as always and if anyone can derail a topic of discussion its Dave! I’ll bet he makes it much more interesting than the original plan of the producers. He always has and he always will. He has the knack for making conversations intersting and most of all for us fans highly entertaining.

Things are far and few in this country on all our bands. Its been that way for decades. Japan and Europe televise loads of concerts. Oh boy we get 3 goofs on VH 1′s That Metal show, wow. How many years have all of us collectors gotten most of our pro shot shows out of Europe and Japan. Oh boy Paladia shows concerts. Big deal they are all legit releases. That shows even more how dumb the music execs are in this country. Release it in the stores,then show it on tv and then bitch it didn’t sell enough!
If someone started a music station and had the rights to all the old 70′s shows like Don Kirshners Rock Concert,Midnight Special,Night Flight,and ABC’s In Concert they would blow MTV off television.

Asked my Japanese buddy to record this. He was in Europe and asked his friend to do it. As far as I know they have recorded on DVD. I will find out for sure when he returns home in a few days and let you know.
