“On October 7, 2020 a Youtube channel called MTV News uploaded a video entitled “Eddie Van Halen’s Home Studio (1998) | You Had To Be There”, this was just one day after EVH passed away. The video quickly made it’s way around the internet, shared mostly by grieving fans with bitter sweet emotions. As the title describes, the video was shot sometime in 1998 at 5150, Eddie Van Halen’s home studio. MTV’s Chris Connelly casually interviews Eddie as they walk through the museum-like studio passing by many rarely or even never before seen VH artifacts. Thousands of mourning fans took comfort in watching this gem of a time capsule but the overwhelming question was… Why didn’t anyone (even the most diehard of fans) have zero memory of ever seeing this 22 year old footage?

I couldn’t believe how much stuff was in the video when I watched it for the first time. It seemed that every shot had something that caught my eye.
In this video I deconstruct numerous screenshots pointing out rare items and even busting some old misinformation about some of Eddie’s gear.”
