So the discussion (rumor) happened about Alex scouring the vaults for unreleased music with Ed. My thought because someone here knows someone who knows someone etc.

Alex produces the music WITHOUT vocals. The music is released out into the world for various artists (pro / amateur / whatever) to record with Van Halen. I’m sure there are 1 millions way to say no to this (ownership rights, money, money, money) but instead of relying on the 1 or 2 named singers from this or that former band, see who’s out there.

Instrumental versions of some of Van Halen’s worst lyrical output has been available for over a decade. Why hasn’t anyone put down new lyrics for Amsterdam or Up For Breakfast? Is it too hard, is there no interest, are there legal reasons?
