My wife and I went to Niagara Falls this evening. I fully expected to drive up there and not be able to get into the park because it was already dark out. We didn’t have anything else better to do, so I thought I’d drive up there and just see what I could see and get oriented – and then go back tomorrow during the day for a real visit.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that you can drive right into the park at night, and the parking attendants are long gone – so the $10 parking lot is wide open and free.

You can’t walk up to the park’s main observation deck at night (that you have to pay for during operating hours) – but there are other parts of the park that are open that have great views. There were at least 150 people there. It’s really popular with foreign tourists – I literally did not hear a word of English being spoken. I heard Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, French, German, and several other languages (that I didn’t recognize).

I love when out of towners come and see the falls. The look on their face is amazing. Growing up here, I still love to see it.
