I’ve about had it with this POS desktop of mine. I’d like opinions, please, on which is better. I’ve never thought about Macs until I drove up to Omaha last year and visited the Apple Store. The whole “they can’t catch viruses” is just a myth, according to MacWorld and MacLife magazines. From reading these mags I understand that Macs essentially run circles around PC’s, but I’d still like opinions from people other than those who work for those magazines.

Mac. Technically, you COULD catch a virus with one, but the likelihood is very low, since the virus would have to be written specifically for Mac OS, which 99.9% are not. I’ve never had a “virus” and I’ve used a Mac for the last 18 years to make a living and doing everything from desktop publishing to running live presentations to torrenting and watching porn, no problems. Don’t believe the hype.

I have a Dell and a iMac at home. I much prefer the Mac (faster, easier, no problems, no virus issues, etc.) but I like having both. I’ve used PCs my whole adult life, so I can’t imagine giving up on it completely, plus there’s things I prefer to do in Windows, but the Mac is by far a better computer.

I have a PC and an iPad and wish every day I had a Mac computer, it is worth the investment.

I have a 27″ iMac also a MacBook from 2006(i bought it used) and recently added the iPad 2. Everyone in the family has an iPod touch and i have the iPhone 4.all these items work well together. I mostly use them for personal things and haven’t had any troubles with them. There is a bit of a learning curve but after a week you should have it down pat by then. Whenever someone has problems with their PC and they ask me for advice i always say buy a Mac and you’ll be happy. I know you can buy a laptop for about $400 for a good one running Windows and a Mac’ll run you 3 times the price but it’s well worth it.

I only use PCs when I need the power, at which point I build a desktop.

I use Macs for everything else.

Back on topic – get a Mac, you’ll never look back. I have a 27″ iMac and a 13″ MacBook Air – both are beautiful, elegant machines that work. Don’t be intimidated by the not-wondoze OS. There’s a slight learning curve, but it you take a weekend to go through it, you’ll thank yourself.

I bought a Macbook Pro about six years ago, that was my first exposure to Apple. Since then, I’ve bought an iPad, an iPad 2, and an iPhone. I use iTunes, iMatch, and a crapload of other stuff that’s for sale. I still use a PC at work (no choice), but I’ve grown to love all of my Apple products more and more every year.

Odd, I am not used to bias against PCs.

But yes, if you need processing power, for whatever reason (server stuff, gaming, video encoding I would imagine), it is much more cost-effective to build a PC than to buy a Mac.
