“Pretty maids, all in a row…” Feast your eyes on a real treat! Here’s some incredibly cool photos from 5150 studios that have just emerged, offering glimpses of many of Eddie Van Halen’s rarely seen guitars. These are definitely some of the very best (and only!) photos of Eddie’s axe collection that have ever come out of 5150. You just don’t get to see many photos of the inside of Van Halen’s studio—it’s almost weird seeing these! These were posted on Facebook by a friend of the short-lived rock band Wildside, who actually recorded their album at 5150 circa 1991. You can spot several classics in there (the Shark, Snake/Dragon, Black/Yellow Bumblebee, striped doublenecks, etc.), stacks of Kramer bodies, headstocks, Marshall head—great stuff to see! VAiN(2777) | tone1963: Found this over at halen.com The bottom neck was a 6 string and the top neck was a 12 string. The reason the top neck looks like a 6 string is because that’s how it started out life.They drilled holes in the aluminum headstock and the strings would be inserted backwards.So the ball end would be on the headstock.The string was threaded through the holes they drilled with the ball end holding it in place.Then the nut was filed for the additional strings.Then they mounted tuning keys behind the bridge so you would tune the octave strings back behind the bridge and the normal strings would tune normally on the headstock.
That’s kind of what I figured but wasn’t sure.. very cool way of converting the 6 into a 12… I love the way it sounds on Secrets from the US Fest.

Hot damn she does look like a young Andy Gibb. Never caught that before. I copied those pics from a guy who posted them at the cvh website. I’ll go back later on or tomorrow and find out who they were. I remember one of the girls name is Kat. I found her FB page when I saw another pic posted on the Fan Halen FB page. There are some more pics and autographs but kinda blurry.
