Define “sell” in todays day and age.

Every play on Youtube (and other services) earns revenue for someone.

I would suspect that since he chose to “publish” the music via sites that earn revenue, that revenue would have to be split with the copyright holder(s).

He’s ruining the legacy of EVH. Looking back, I’ve lost all respect for everything Roth did after 2008. It seems when Eddie was struggling, Roth performed much better. When Ed cleaned up and was kicking ass, Roth sang like garbage. Why is he dragging the VH legacy through the mud like this?

You’re right,i never understood why the brothers let him sang the way he did since 2012 because when he opened for Kiss he went back singing in the low register most of the set and it was better but it was too late.About these new rendition,i thought “panama” was not that bad but ATBL is not good at all to my liking.

I think Roth should release new solo songs if he wants to put songs out.
Redoing old VH songs is a bad move they’ll never be as good as the originals..

Roth “covering” Van Halen songs (and I use that description of “covering” VERY loosely) is horrible. He had some really good, some really average and some poor bands in the past few years that tried to do this. His John5 tunes were interesting and original. I appreciate those.

Now, Edward is gone. It’s time to stop clinging to his past and maybe just try to do something original and new. There in lies the problem. Dave is done. Unless he has a whole new band and team of writers and arrangers, something really unique and special to release is out of his scope. I really wish he would go away and shut his mouth. He has disgraced Ed so much at this point. I don’t know why he’s still trying to be relevant. Just collect your royalties and fade away. He has nothing left to contribute. The fact that he basically shit on Ed before he died and now, all he has to offer is covers of Van Halen songs is pathetic. I know a lot of you are going to disagree and that’s fine. As a lifelong fan, I am totally disgusted with Roth as a human being. He’s a shameless, opportunist, disgusting piece of shit.

Uhhh wow. I guess I missed Dave disrespecting Ed. He’s also not being opportunistic as he’s not selling anything. He’s a creative guy and this is one of his outlets. It’s not good at all but that’s all it is, IMHO.
