Hagar, dressed in his trademark red, took the stage and performed “Bad Motor Scooter” from his early Montrose days, along with a string of hits that included solo and Van Halen tunes.

“Are we having fun yet?” he said. “Ready Oklahoma?” he yelled as The Red Rocker punched into “I Can’t Drive 55,” “Mas Tequila,” “Eagles Fly,” “Heavy Metal,” “Right Now,” and “Why Can’t This Be Love?” The sun began to pull over the west wall of the stadium, the breeze kicked up and fans cheered wildly. “Did I wear the right color? It’s all I got!”

The stadium full of people gave him all they had, as well, including a Sooners-themed jersey with “Red Rocker” emblazoned across the front. He also talked about playing Norman at the first Rocklahoma with Ted Nugent in 1979.

“That’s alright, Cabo ain’t goin’ nowhere, I had to be here right here, right now,” he said of Saturday night’s concert.

I’m happy for Sammy.

Hope VH will find the same crowd at Oshkosh !
