I was thinking the same,since nothing is happening with the band and like you said,the participation is low,i don’t know what will happened here at the site.I come everyday and missing those busy times.Lots of old members don’t show up anymore or very rarely.I wish the site would stay up but nothing much is going on unless Van-Halen make an announcement soon I don’t see what would revive the place.I didn’t trade for a while but damn that liked those days.

Love the site. It is in a lull, but that is largely due to the band being off the radar fo now.

Please do not shut it down.

I think if there was more participation, there wouldn’t be a question of keeping it open. But in it’s current state (1 or 2 posts a day), it’s hard to justify. So, what can we (everyone reading this) do to keep people interested and posting?

I think the general landscape around here is no different than several message boards for other bands I follow. Even when the band is active, there’s a lot less traffic on message boards now compared to what used to be 5-10 years ago. Message boards in general seem to be fading away to be replaced by social media platforms and Facebook groups.

Personally, I hope the board stays around, but I’m a set-in-my-ways and get-off-my-lawn old guy with outdated tastes. I prefer to read my books printed on paper, drink my pop from a glass bottle, listen to my music played on vinyl through an analog stereo system and bitch about my favorite bands on a message board, Twitter be damned!

I hope it don’t shut down,i am working on getting back into SM trades,this place has been like a family to me when i was down and thought i would never get up again,THANK YOU TO EVERYONE HERE.

Yeah, I guess it kinda is and the band seems to be on an indefinite hiatus (which doesn’t help). I don’t value high participation; I value quality participation. People like Ron and yourself always make valuable contributions. I wouldn’t consider shutting the site down just because there isn’t a ton of chatter.

Well, that’s not really up to me but if it were to shut down I would definitely miss it. I check in most everyday even if I don’t login or post … it is just one of my daily routines. That’s doesn’t mean you should keep the site open just for me but I have a feeling other people check in every day too, even if just to see what’s up.

Torrent sites definitely have taken a huge bite out of trading. I haven’t traded in a long time but I hit Dime, The Den among other sites and Torrent frequently. I really miss trading. It is kinda nice receiving packages or sending packages. Torrents have just become so easy and so dang fast. I also archive a ton to external drives and I need to pick up some media badly. It is hard to trade when you don’t have discs. Although, a couple of times I traded via flash drive which was pretty cool. The person sent me an 8GB flash drive with a bunch of FLACs. After I copied the FLACs to my drive I threw a bunch of FLACs on to the drive and sent it back to the dude. Did that only a couple of times but it was very cool and would be very interested in doing that again (plus flash drives are cheap enough that if I lose the flash drive I’m not going to sweat the couple of bucks (I can get a 16GB drive for 5 bucks). But I digress. I haven’t traded in a while but would really like to get back into it … just havta update my list.

Is it worth keeping the site going ?
Trading is in the title of the site but to me it was always just one aspect. There are obviously a lot of different types of posts. There are people on the site I always look forward to seeing their posts. I think it is worth keeping the site going but I can understand if the powers that be fold it cuz they don’t have the time or energy or they just feel like the site has run its course.

I don’t post very much on this site, or trade (torrent is great!) but as other have stated I visit just about everyday or every other day. It seems that most of the people who frequent this site have the same taste in music as I do, I find some of the off topic stuff interesting and come for that as much as the VH info. Is that enough to keep the site going? probably not! but I would hate to see it shut down!

What we really need around here is Fresno 78/79 in HD….. a man can dream………
