So I started to build a record collection and added live VH. Then I noticed the turntable speed is too fast. Went through all the forums etc and turns out the unit I got as a gift is low end on special. So I ask, any recommendations for a quality turntable?

It just depends on your budget, you get what you pay for. I have a Rega RP-1 that sounds good. I’ve also read good things about the Pro-Ject debut ($600) and Audio-Technica makes some quality stuff too. Stay away from anything that includes bluetooth, that’s a dead giveaway for a cheap turntable. No matter what you get, the biggest factor in sound quality is the cartridge used. My Rega didn’t sound all that great until I upgraded the cartridge.

Remember when you could go to a shop that had people to answer all of these questions???

Those shops still exist if you look hard enough. But Best Buy isn’t one of them. You could also look for a vintage model at a thrift shop or estate sale and find a shop that repairs them to restore it for you. Might cost less than buying brand new.
