ron: DVD menu creation took a lot longer than expected.Project is over 99 percent complete.Need to do a test burn to make sure the menus work properly on a real DVD player. Then any tweaks as needed, and we’ll be good to go.

oh man that’s great Ron. Cant wait and again thanks so much

Well crap, going backwards now. Thought I was done, and good to go, burned a test DVD, dropped it in the player and almost immediately noticed a problem. Near the start of Amsterdam, the text, “Video Calibration” flashes on the screen. This is something I never saw before, and obviously happened when the VCR needed to re-track during the initial capture. Now I’m wondering if there are any other spots like that. I’ll have to scrub through the whole video and see if there is, and re-capture stuff. (sigh)

I think there’s a menu setting in the VCR that you can turn AUTO CALIBRATION off.

For the first time in years, I recently captured footage from a VHS tape and had a similar problem when it would display things like “play” for the first few seconds after starting the tape. The solution was to go into the VCR’s menus and turn off the function that displays text on the screen.

It was a new (to me) VCR, so I guess I hadn’t turned all the OSD stuff off. I scrubbed the video, and only found that one spot, so I’ll just have to re-capture that portion of Amsterdam and patch it in.

The Amsterdam clip has been re-captured., and patched in over the section with the “Video Calibration” problem. I did a test burn and checked the menus on a real DVD player*, and everything looks fine. A full blown DVD9 is being burned and sent to Rob. He’ll check it over and if everything is fine, the project will be released. Thanks for waiting, it’s been a journey for sure.

*In VLC, the menus don’t look as exactly designed, but work fine. They do look as expected in WMP though.

I’ll check it out (of course while pounding some brews after work) as soon as it gets here and get back to Ron. Once he says we are good to go I can hook you up Pete as well as some other folks in need that don’t do the torrent thing.
Again we all thank you for your dedication and effort here bro.
