ron: Okay, I’ve located my SVHS copy of the original PPV, and popped it into my VCR.Still plays, but I have my doubts if it’s any better than the AppleJack version we all have.

I also have the MuchMusic version of the show, which differs somehow (don’t remember how).

..and finally, I have the video files from the link above.

So, in theory, I could put it all together.Capture the two SVHS tapes into the computer, and try and piece it together with the above.Question is, is it worth all the time it’d take to do it?Over the years, I’ve been told that I probably had the best copy of the original PPV since I recorded it to SVHS originally, and the AppleJack version was from VHS.Just not sure if what I have is really any better, as I think the AppleJack copy is quite good already.

So on the VHS tapes you have Ron do you have the 3 extra songs?
I know it’s a pain to add them but I for one would love to see them on the 2 disc set and it looks like a few people above have said the same.
That being said i know it takes time and a big effort so it’s up to you or someone else if you want to do it.

Thanks Pete..

I would imagine NONE of us have those 3 songs (ATBL, OWTR and YRGM) on any of our sets applejack or the other one on VHS either. I remember the PPV show also did not have Jump either with the intro to RWTD and a few years back someone updated this set to add that as well because again…. it was an awesome version. I think these 3 songs have JUST found their way out of the vault and are now available. Being this is a pro shot PPV 95 show it would make it an almost complete set if we added these songs.

Ron – you can send the tapes to me and I’ll put it all together.

Is there a separate audio recording of the entire show available?

I noted yesterday that the audio seemed odd, and I confirmed today that the right channel on my S-VHS deck has died internally somehow. That renders stereo hi-fi recordings a bit useless.
:(
I’ve trolled Amazon and eBay for a decent S-VHS deck replacement, but so far haven’t come up with much. I’ve got a good sized bunch of tapes to go through and transfer. Guess I should have done this a decade ago.

I also tried to figure out what S-VHS ET is/was, but haven’t really figured it out. Just need to know if I should avoid it when looking for S-VHS deck replacements.

Ron, S-VHS ET was JVC’s proprietary thing that was supposed to produce quasi-S-VHS quality onto a standard (non-S-VHS) VHS tape stock; sort of a half-assed SVHS signal onto a standard tape. More info here:
http://www.avforums.com/threads/s-vhs-et-how-exactly-does-this-technology-work.1762440/

As long as you don’t have any tapes recorded in S-VHS ET, you shouldn’t really concern yourself with it when shopping for a new deck. It won’t affect playback of regular and SVHS tapes.

If you are looking to replace your VCR, I may have a deck at work to sell. PM me if interested.

Fellow member, JasonA, was able to hook me up with a good deal on a replacement S-VHS machine. I’m using it to capture the original PPV show as I type this. The audio on the right channel is low. Not sure if I’ll correct that by raising the audio in the channel to match the left, or replacing it with the audio off one of the many bootlegs from that PPV.

As a reminder, this is what that PPV contained:

Right Now
Big Fat Money
Top Of The World
Not Enough
Amsterdam
Mine All Mine / Drum solo
Can’t Stop Loving You
Feelin
Where Eagles Fly
Guitar Solo
Why Can’t This Be Love
Dreams
Poundcake
Don’t Tell Me (What Love Can Do)
Panama

Next up will be to capture the Much Music version of the show and see what the differences were/are.

I scanned the Much Music version, and got the following set list:

Right Now
Big Fat Money
Top Of The World
[interview segment]
Not Enough
Amsterdam
Mine All Mine / Drum solo [including interview segment]
Can’t Stop Loving You
Feelin
Guitar Solo [including interview segment]
Why Can’t This Be Love
Jump [added song]
Runnin’ With The Devil (intro) [added song]

Dreams
Poundcake
Panama

“Where Eagles Fly” and “Don’t Tell Me (What Love Can Do)” were dropped.

So, with the above, what are we still missing? These ones are what I think we’re still missing:

Why Can’t This Be Love
Bass Solo
The Seventh Seal
Aftershock

We know what the set list is for the Aug 19th show. Anyone know what the set list was for the show on Aug 18th?

This is what I’ve got for songs and sequence. Question:
-Should I move “Why Can’t This Be Love” from it’s original place in the PPV setlist?

So basically, just adding 5 tracks from the Wolfgang’s Vault (Aug 19) show to the set. (‘Sammy Talks’, ‘Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love’ (will need an audio patch), ‘You Really Got Me’, ‘Jump/RWTD’, and ‘One Way To Rock’) Looks like I’ll also have to figure out what to do with the encore breaks from WV, since they don’t seem to match what was aired in the PPV.

After raising the right channel to match the left, I find that it’s not acceptable. That leaves two choices. Use the audio from the Much Music broadcast (which isn’t complete compared to the original PPV), or use audio from one of the bootlegs from the broadcast. I’ll have to raid the basement to see what I’ve got on CD from that show, as I think that’s the way to go. – Another thought is to rip the audio off one of the other DVD’s. Will have to look to see if any of them have LPCM audio.

I patched in audience audio to cover the blank spot at the start of Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love from Wolfgang’s Vault. It isn’t a great match, but it’ll have to do for now.

Is there really any interest in running commentary on the progress, or should I just shut up and get it done? :)
