Van Halen: History of the Hard Rock Band Formed in 1972 in Pasadena, California, Van Halen quickly found success in the underground scene thanks to the skills and personalities of their members. While they did sell many records, they also were kept in the spotlight by their wild live gigs, alcohol and substance problems and issues with their lead singers. Despite a brief hiatus at the turn of the century, Van Halen continue to make music and released a brand new album in 2012, 14 years since their last record.
