Notes – Clear recording in front of an enthusiastic crowd in Buffalo. I contacted the fellow who recorded this show, but he did have his master with him, so I’ve upped this version. Not sure of the gen, but given the clarity, it’s pretty low. A bit distant, however. A good overall show from fairly early in the tour. A bit of a rarity as only one other VH Buffalo show exists from the 1980s, actually two equally bad sources from that show.

Additional notes regarding remastering – I found that this show needed judicious EQing and a bit of NR, so I did what I could to get it to sound the best it can. The low end was there, but all it was was a constant rumble from the cassette noise, so I took out most of the bottom in order to reduce the annoying rumble that did nothing but obscure the music. Likewise with the high end above 10k, which was nothing but hiss without any music content. Obviously the mics didn’t have the fidelity of the tape itself, an subsequent generations only enhanced these flaws. The resulting tape you hear here is pretty midrangey in fidelity, but much more discernable than originally, especially since the recording was fairly distant and quite echoey. There is a bit of Everybody Wants Some that is patched in from a really muffled tape, possibly more generations on this part, which I tried to pick up the highs on to little avail. I also attempted to balance the channels a bit better, but they fluctuated a lot, so don’t expect miracles.
An error in the above statement in that there is also a 1989 Monsters of Rock show out there, both by another taper and by myself. Don’t know if he meant that there were only 2 David Lee Roth shows out there or what, but I am certain that there’s at least one Sammy Hagar era show besides the two listed above.
