Interesting.. Maybe there’s some truth to it like they didn’t respond to an inquiry to play the festival but we’re directly offered 9.9m? If so – good on them for not taking the easy money if they weren’t in gig shape.

If the comment Planet Rock’s digital radio host made came directly from Andy Coppling it’s possible.

However, there are no recent written comments directly from him that I know of so I highly doubt that comment is true. Unless there is a confirmed statement directly from Andy Coppling saying it was he who offered that amount of money. Otherwise it’s bullshit.

Andy Coppling the Download promoter has been trying to book VH for ages. He is a huge fan.

Last year a Swedish Festival promoter claimed to have had VH booked but that they pulled out. They posted the alleged tour dates then Andy Coppling basically said they were full of shit.

I doubt they’d play Download. VH just aren’t a big enough attraction in the UK to headline and I don’t think Ed and Al would want to play 2nd fiddle again. They had to support Bon Jovi in 1995, got a luke warm reaction, and haven’t been back since. Unless you’re a forty plus rocker or guitarist, chances are you’ve either never heard of them or all you know is Jump.

Yeah, Van Halen owes you so much. How dare they do what they want to do?! Who cares if Eddie, Alex, or whoever do not want to do what you suggest, “fans” like you are more important.

Funny how u missed the point mcs5150, but us “fans” should continue to buy remastered lps, greatest hits packages #3, one lp every 15 years…keep hope alive, Van Halen has “been doing what they want to do” for years. We a silly followerers just keep getting rewarded for out loyalty

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have that holy grail box set with the Oakland 81 DVD, Misc live clips, outtakes, etc… I’d also like to have a stable full of thoroughbred unicorns. I’m not holding my breath on either on happening anytime soon.
