I received these cassettes in a trade back in the late 80′s.
The quality is OK for the type of recorder that was used at the time
and where the taper was recording from. This show sounds a bit distant,
but does improve a little later in the concert. Beware of the loud audience
members. The recording slows down some toward the end.

For a 2 CD set, tracks 1-13 for disc 1, tracks and 14-24 for disc 2.
This show is for free trade only for anyone that wants a copy. Please keep in lossless format.

When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor?

Thanks so much mojo for sharing this gem! Apparently there seem to be two different sources floating around from that night, here’s the one I got from dime back in 2012. If anybody is interested in this version shoot me a PM for a mega link.

This is a show that I recorded on audio only because I couldn’t get the camcorder into Nassau Coliseum this night. Another real tough search at Nassau. This will be the only time I release a show from my audio collection as I just do not have the time to manage audio transfers and video transfers on a weekly basis. I have a friend that is transferring alot of the master audio tapes I recorded. Alot of those shows are audio recording where I ran audio equipment as I was filming as a backup audio for the cam audio. I went through the many boxes finding these shows and frankly, there are some audio tapes that I have where I have no recollection of ever going to the show and doing them. Kind of scarry. Because for the videos, I seam to remember alot about those shows. So, as I said, the tapes are all being digitized now. After that, I am going to have them remastered by another friend. Then I have another friend that will be posting them for everyone to enjoy. There are some shows where I just audio tapes, and others where I ran both audio and video.

The reason I decided to release this show is because someone made a comment to the VH MSG video I just uploaded last week, and was really interested in the complete version of the song Cabo Wabo, which was moved to the main set and played completely instead of the encore abreviated version. They did play Cabo Wabo in complete form at some other shows in the beginning of the Monsters Tour, Miami and Alpine Valley I believe, but then dropped it for Superstition for the rest of the Monsters Tour. I am not sure they did it as a complete version in any of the other arena shows that they came back around and played other than Nassau. I just don’t have all the audios. I know they didn’t play it complete at any other show I went to. I also decided to release this because it was already on CDR from when I moved it a while ago. It will be re-released in the future after it is remastered. But for now, I decided to put it up for those of you that want it. Enjoy Van Halen on the 2nd night in NY in a more casual atmosphere that MSG (as Sammy describes it) and the full Cabo Wabo! CBG5150 Posted to DIME 2012-08-16.

Thank you mojo.
I have the same boot as jorge, but on this one, the guitar solo is slightly cut (tape flip).
