Remasters? Live album? …Could be worse, I guess. …Picked these up a short time ago and they suite me just fine. Still, in this Technological Singularity, Information Age, Internet Revolution, Viral Media, Mobile Device world we now inhabit, why do bands still choose to release live albums that are doctored to death with overdubs, Protools and AutoTune when the actual live performance gets uploaded to YouTube somehow within 24 hours? Especially since the “record” business, not music business, as we knew it, is dead? I suppose they might see a live album with Dave as something they’ve never done before and hope it does well due to the novelty factor. Anything officially released, whether we’ll buy it or not, is better than nothing at all. I’m just happy there even is a Van Halen… still.

Yep, these are the ones I was referring to and they do sound really nice; there are also Japanese remasters that were released in 2005 for 5150 and OU812 (WPCR-75068 and WPCR-75071 respectively). The OU812 benefits the most as you can actually hear Mike’s bass. I just hope VH doesn’t hop on the popular domestic re-release/remastering every 10 years bandwagon.
