Both, being close you probably won’t get full stage view, which is fine. Do the usual, sort of zoom or at least focus on Ed during his solos, Dave when he’s doing his schtic and Wolf and Al during any drum and bass fills. Also try and catch some of the interactions between Dave and Wolf, Ed and Dave, Wolf and Ed ets.
Most importantly enjoy yourself and remember that whatever you get is going to be greatly appreciated.

turns out the camera has a stabilizer…
We did the Buffalo show (dvd coming soon) and the one thing I regret is watching the show through a screen (about 80% viewed on screen)
BUT…I have the show forever…

Great advice!!! NO digital zoom – stick strictly with optical zoom.

If your camera has manual exposure – learn how to use. Manual exposure is absolutely crucial to getting nice video. You’ll get decent video *most* of the time with auto-exposure. But you’re going to have lots of spots in your video where things are just too bright (white heads/bodies).

OR if your camera has different presets for auto exposure, try using “spotlight” mode. That will help keep the exposure from going crazy in scenes with intense stage lighting against a dark background.

I don’t understand the math behind this one, because if my hands are so jittery that I shake the camera, how would putting the camera on a 6 inch stick & then holding that with my shakey hands make the picture any more stable. I would think that would actually amplify the shakiness

That is great advice, you posted similar advice a few months maybe more back and Fletch and I were both talking about it when we met at MSG for the second VH show. I listened to your advice and adjusted the exposure so the bright spots didn’t get washed out.

I believe that basically instead of trying to hold the cam with both hands or even the one hand it actually does make it easier to hold the cam when screw a small tripod into the bottom of the cam.

if youre shakey to start then image stabilization isnt going to work for you anyways- stick or no stick. Dont drink soda or caffine drinks 5 hours before a show! no coffee, tea, nothing like that. No beer either. Also different medications will make you shakey. The idea is that naturally holding both hands on a camera for two hours…your arms are going to be in pain! its easier to hold the stick with one hand and use the other for zoom. And you’re going to stand perfectly still and not move for two hours? ok…right… I use a few different cameras and different holding systems for other work I do and I’ve been doing it for a few years.

If you only have a six inch cock…I feel bad for ya! stick to tiny women! why even go there? I was being serious about helping you out and giving some advice.
