Last night I saw this on Amazon:

“A Different Kind of Truth-Deluxe Edition, CD+DVD Edition.”

I know what the DVD content is because I created my own homemade DVD with the Downtown Sessions on it, but I don’t ever recall seeing these being made commercially available when the album was released. Yet, it’s being sold at Amazon for $187.

If this is the real deal did anyone ever manage to get their hands on one back in 2012?

Based on other entries in that thread, it looks like you bought the WalMart T-Shirt version, and not the Deluxe w/DVD version.
Yes, these were widely available at release, and can still be found (used) for around $10, and new for around $45.
