 mikeyV (335) | I was looking at buying this promo vinyl from South Africa (if I can afford it) but I don’t know know of anytime that Van Halen toured near Africa, let alone South Africa. The certificate that comes with the “Warner Brothers” pressed record says that David Lee Roth and Alex Van Halen will meet the winner “Henry” at the disco club Plumb Crazy on July 2..no year. Mayby 1979 or 1984. Van Halen was in the middle of touring, with July 2 off both years, four days off in 79 between Seattle and Jacksonville Fl and only one day between Illinois and Wisconsin in 1984. I would think if this happened it would be 1979 as its a disco club. Has any one heard of this or seen pictures from this event??? Sorry was not sure how to add as a link. | Gilligan (1518) | Or maybe the recordings weren’t for a local contest at all – the station just used them as promotional material. The promo may have been from Virginia but the SA station just used them to use the van Halen name and generate buzz for their station.
