Vinyl

I’ve tried proxies in 3 different countries, but still no luck. It’s blocked everywhere I tried.

JasonA: Just like with choosing audio recorders & mics, it all depends on what you want to spend and what kind of quality is acceptable to you. There are a lot of USB turntables out there for $100 that will work, but the quality is not going to be audiophile by any means. I just got a Rega RP-1, which is sort of a good starter, low-end “good” turntable. I’ve seen decent used vintage Pioneer or Technics tables at a mom & pop record store here for $75 – $150.

I’m curious if anybody else got the download code with your vinyl. I bought the vinyl from Amazon, but it didn’t come with anything to download. Maybe the download bundle was exclusive to Live Nation? Did you get a download code with your album and where did you buy it from?

Thanks Ron. Not that I need the download stuff, just curious. Some bands have put out special albums where the accompanying MP3s were mastered from the vinyl itself, and can be an improvement over other digital versions. I’ve got Them Crooked Vultures LP, and the downloaded mp3′s it came with (made from the vinyl) sound better than the CD version, in terms of dynamics and brickwalled mastering. But I guessing ADKOT mp3s are probably made from the same source as the CD.

How did you do that? Just call the factory and ask if you could have the masters before they throw ‘em in the trash? Lol.

I love vinyl!

…but I have not yet found a way to take it 4X4′n with me yet.
