 | drjazz: I haven’t heard the 6/10/77 show for a while, but according to history that would be the last show we’ve heard without tapping. According to Edward, he discovered tapping when watching jp at the la forum. Led zep was at the forum from 6/21 to 6/26 in 1977. If the magic mt show is indeed in July, that would be when he was working out his tapping technique, August is probably too late. But knowing Edward, after he got home from the zep show he tried it right away, and started with the technique immediately.I might even go as far to say that the magic Mt show is actually in may, or early June. I could even be possible that this is one of those European/American date problems. Maybe this guy is correct and the show was on march 12, 1977 ????
Ed tapped in his solo on 6/10/77 at the Whisky. He did not at Magic Mountain. Ed said he got the idea from Jimmy Page in ’71 or ’72. Harvey Mandel might have something to say about that… The March date is not right for many reasons, Atomic Punk being just one.
